Publisher's summary

After five years with a man she loved, Ariana Parker held divorce papers in hand. From the moment she met him, Nick was the only man to make her body burn and fill her heart with joy, but somewhere along the way, they lost their ability to communicate - in any language.

Nick Parker lost the woman he loved to the trials of conception. Their inability to cope with their failure broke down their relationship and their friendship. And now, he's left with a woman he lusts after, longs for, and doesn't know how to reach.

One locked door and plenty of time to hash out their problems will either leave them broken forever, or might just be the glue that holds them together.

Warning: Adult content including but not limited to raw sexual language and actions.

At Last...

The story of Ariana and Nick hits home on some levels for me. At a point when you want to give up, it is always okay to take a second look at a situation that seems hopeless. Also the pressure of trying for a child can sometimes devastate couples. They tend to forget the love that binds them together in the first place. I am happy that these two have a second chance of having a HEA. Outside distraction from the in-laws is also an unwelcome pressure to a successful marriage. These couple made it though. Great.

Milly Taiden gives us another love/shifter story

A shiffter couple tries to get back together after time apart. This is another sweet shifter love story with a little smutty sex here and there but, it is between a married/mated couple.

Performance was terrible.

I really think this is a book to be read, not listened to, because of the narrator, Lauren Sweet. When reading females in distress I wanted to pry my ears off.

Touched me personally.

This book touched me because I could never get pregnant. I got criticized by my husband's family. They blamed me for us not being able to have children. it was really hard because. I was blaming myself. I sure didn't need anyone else doing so. I am just thankful that we went to counseling to help us get through it. Although I still hurt for not being able to have children. The bad part is we tried to adopt and they interfered and prevented that from happening.

Communication can help you overcome many obstacles

Another wonderful Milly Taiden novel. This one is a little heavier that her normal books, it starts with a couple who are about to divorce and follows their attempt to save their relationship.

It contains some really beautiful scenes, I laughed and cried at various points, it definitely drew me in.

Lauren Sweet narrated the book beautifully, it really struck me while listening to this book just how well she manages to portray the male characters voices. The narration flowed from beginning to end and had a lovely consistent rhythm.

Average love story

Genre: contemporary romance
Ari and Nick Parker meet up at their lawyer’s office to sign divorce papers. While the lawyer is out of the room there is an earthquake that traps them in the conference room. This gives them an opportunity to talk about their issues. The problems started when they decided to start a family, but they ended up needing to see a fertility specialist. The stresses of trying to conceive and the miscarriage of the fetus, had been too much and their marriage of 5 years suffered. They ended up separating, but it turns out that neither want a divorce. This is a character-driven story that revolves around the the couple working through their problems. There is interference in the person of Nick’s mother who keeps going to chat with Ari about how she should let Nick go so he can have a family.
There are a variety of emotions in this story, including anger, sadness, confusion, a life-threatening situation, and ends with a happily-ever-after. There are even a couple of instances of humor. This is billed as a BBW romance, but Ari is described as having had stress-related weight loss so it doesn’t really fit the category. As is common in this sub genre and with this author, there is erotica involved. Although explicit and gratuitous, the sex does not preclude plot development. While the characters are not fully three-dimensional, they aren’t totally flat either. The mother-in-law is a bit of a caricature, and other supporting characters are not particularly well written. Overall, the grammar, plot, and main character development are on the plus side of average, and it isn’t bad for a short listen. Given the length, it isn’t worth the price or even a credit. It’s best borrowed through the Romance Package.
Where this audiobook suffers is with the narration. While Nick was voiced okay, the women not so much. Ari’s best friend and the M-I-L were particularly grating. I’d probably have enjoyed this more with a different narrator, or if I had read it myself.
