Publisher's summary

Duet narration by Sebastian York and Lucy Rivers.

She’s his fiancée’s younger sister. He’s the man she’s always loved.

When her sister doesn’t show up on her wedding day, Raven has no choice but to take her place, but marriage to Ares Windsor is nothing short of torture.

The elusive billionaire media mogul is the man she’s always loved…yet he’s only ever had eyes for her sister.

Married to him at last, Raven is determined to win him over.

After all, everything is fair in love and war.

And this?

This is war.

Publisher's Note: this audiobook contains a lot of angst. As mentioned in the blurb, the heroine is marrying her sister's fiancé. If this is not a theme you'd enjoy, then this audiobook might not be for you. This is a standalone with a guaranteed happily-ever-after, and no cheating.

Who’s up for slapping Hannah?! 🙋🏼‍♀️

Holy crap, this is my first Catharina Maura book and I am at a lose for words. There is just one detail that I’m missing but I’ll draw my own conclusion, kids. I hope they have tons of them since the subject never came up between them.

LOVE THIS BOOK!

Catharina outdid herself with this book it is such an amazing read! I have the hard copy book, the kindle and now the audiobook! I will say the male reader sounds too old to be the voice of Ares lol in my mind Ares is in his late 20s very early 30s but the narrator is giving me some strong 68year old and above vibes 😬 Teddy Hamilton would have fit a little better just for the youth in the voice but I do like Sebastian York he reads so well and his inflections are great but he would go better in a boom where the character is an older man 👴

Fabulous story!

I don’t read too many books without narration but I had to read this story. I’m so glad I did. I loved the story of Raven and Ares! My heart broke for Raven but so glad she got her happy ending. When the narration came out I had to buy it and so glad I did. Sebastian and Lucy really brought these characters to life and the gave me all the emotions when rereading this book. This a must listen too book!

Great read

Performance-wise I just wish the female voice had more inflection. Ares saying “baby” every other word drove me insane, it made me wish I could mute the word 😂 Great plot.

Absolutely loved it

The Wrong Bride by Catharina Maura

Tropes: Friends to Lovers/ Arranged Marriage/ Billionaire Romance/Mutual Pining/ Ex Fiancé’s Sister

I’ve read almost all of Catharina Maura’s books, yet this is my first review. The Windsor series is becoming quite fast my go-to read. Although, The Wrong Bride has to be the top 1 because I lost count of how many times I’d read it. This is a story of mutual pining that happens throughout 5 years give or take, Ares and Raven are friends dare I say almost best friends.

Ares has this soft spot for his ‘cupcake’ (I LOVE THE NICKNAME) even though he is engaged to her sister. Their bond is quite different from the one he shares with Hannah (Raven’s sister and his fiancé). He doesn’t understand why he is so protective of her and he feels that he is losing her as his wedding approaches.

Raven is portrayed as a person who is there for everyone and has a heart of gold. She is sweet, and understanding and puts everyone’s needs before hers, that’s why she is silently suffering because her sister is marrying the love of her life. Raven has been in love with Ares Windsor since the moment she laid eyes on him, they were informally engaged years ago even. Unfortunately, life had a different plan, because her sister came between them without their knowledge and ruined their chance at love.

The Windsors are known for their long-lasting arranged marriages, Ares and Hannah are set to marry in less than a month when she decides that she can’t go through with it. This is why Raven is forced to marry Ares in Hannah’s stead in order to merge their companies. She refuses to be a second option, all she ever wanted was all-consuming love, and feels that by marrying Ares she’s condemning herself to a loveless marriage. Alas, if Hannah doesn’t change her mind she will have to go through the wedding (which is the case).

Ares and Raven’s marriage has a rocky start but they find a way to navigate it with grace and communication nonetheless. They faced multiple challenges, Hannah being one of them (I hated her btw), and they had a long road to grow as individuals and as a couple.

What I loved:

They both loved each other, even when Ares didn’t know, he was hopelessly and irrevocably in love with his cupcake. I enjoyed that this was not a story in which the heroine had to make the hero forget about his previous love, due to the fact that Ares was ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS thinking about Raven. Hannah who?

What I hated:

Hannah, hands down.

Audiobook:
I absolutely loved the chemistry between Sebastian York and Lucy Rivers, they made the story perfect because of how connected they felt. Catharina did an outstanding job with this book, however including York and Rivers in this project was the perfect move.

Perfection

I’ve loved everything I’ve listened to by Catharina and this is no exception. So good. The plot was great and the twists and turns and secondary characters were awesome.

I cannot wait to get into more in this series.

SebYo and Lucy did such an amazing job with the intense emotions throughout the book.
