Publisher's summary

When they kidnapped me to Xest, they thought I was a nobody, another lowly whimsy witch to work in their wish factory. They couldn’t have been more wrong.

Everybody has bad days, stories of horror and woe. Unless they have the wind calling their name and ghosts telling them they have bad debts, I don’t have time to listen. I’m too busy with the hot guy who yelled at me because of some stupid feather and strange people jumping through puddles and kidnapping me to Xest. If you don’t know where Xest is, join the club. They say it’s somewhere north of North, and east of East. It sure doesn’t look like any place I’ve ever seen.

So yeah, top that day and maybe I’ll hear you out. Right now though, I’ve got to go help the hot guy keep the darkness at bay over by the Unsettled Lands, while trying to not blow things up. It’s the only way I’ll ever get back to Salem.

Overall great read

The narrator did great voices for the dialogue but the narration sounded completely affected, like a newscaster. It drove me nuts.

the e whimsy witch who wasn't

I haven't read any books by this author so I gave this one a try. the first chapter was confusing but I kept reading and the story got better. I'm not sure I will read book two, maybe if I want to read something different. the narrator was very easy to listen to.

Umm, sure

To sum it up...
She had a bounty on her head and was brought through a portal. She was forced to work in a factory until she found someone to help her escape. He agrees to help if she does what he needs. I don’t even remember what he needed, but once he got it (it wasn’t sexual) he told her that it would be better if she stayed away and he sent her back to earth. Oh and there was another magical person that became the girls friend when she first came to the factory. She helped the girl go back to earth first bc she was dying bc she didn’t have enough magic.
Refund for the book I will never listen to again? We will see, sigh...

Has Lots of possibilities but needs changes to be a really good series.

I essentially liked the characters and the new alternate world. I’ve never liked Angel Clark as a narrator although she was less offensive than she is when narrating for Amanda Lee. The story was interesting but somehow the timing of events, down to when her magic was revealed, and her preservation of the same idiot themes (self reflection way over done) I found myself finally hurriedly getting through to get to the actual story. Still, I liked it enough to get the next book and see if I’m less aggravated by small stuff.

A Really Fun Story

I stumbled across this when I was looking at other books by the narrator, Angel Clark. Seems like a lot of people are not fond of her style. I enjoyed her narration in Waking Up Dead in Alabama and was checking out what else she had done.

If you can get past the narrator - I agree she's not the best but I don't find her to be so annoying I can't enjoy the story either.

If you stick with the story, the story itself is so charming and fun it's well worth the cost of the book.
The only drawback is that there are four books in the series and Audible only has the first two, the others are available to read on Kindle but no audiobooks available.

An outstanding must have book!

The whimsy Witch Who Wasn’t, by Donna Augustine narrated by Angel Clark is a must have book! Tippi thinks her life has been destroyed, but she is about to find out it is just the opposite.
The narrator brings this book to life and the author allows us to be transported to a whole new dimension with Tippi.
You won’t regret this book or the series!

Fun Plot & Storyline but +18 read

Language: Lots of bad language including Fbombs,
Violence: minimal.
Sexual content: crude references to sex, story about losing virginity, libido,
Parents: probably best suited to 18+ due primarily to language and this content.

The story is interesting, it's about a girl who prefers the life as a wall flower but is forced into being something she had denied being long ago. An intriguing first book that is fairly fast paced, I’d enjoy taking on its sequel for sure.

Narrator: slow reader, even on 1.5 speed but enjoyable and adds a good amount of emotion to all the characters.

I was given a free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This Book Sucks

I don't know if it's the narrator making all the characters sound overly emotional/naive or it's the writing. The narrator gives voices to the characters that are way overly emotional. One male character sounds like an idiot (bordering on mentally challenged), another is perpetually angry, the women sound shallow/always frustrated. This book literally goes nowhere. I can't finish it. She literally goes in circles of "I'm a failure wahh waah waah". There is no depth at all. The idea is okay, but it's executed so poorly. Tippy (what a terrible name) is so naive and constantly worried about trivial matters. Maybe I'm too old for this? It should definitely be a YA novel, but she's 19 and the love interest is in his 30's. Don't waste your money/credit. You WILL be disappointed.
