Publisher's summary

Save the date for this funny and poignant novel of family, friendship, letting go, and moving on by the award-winning author of Room to Breathe.

Once upon a time, Melanie Layton and Tennyson O'Rourke were inseparable - but their friends-4ever promises were shattered when an explosive secret was revealed at Mel's wedding, a secret that destroyed her family. The two haven't spoken for the past twenty-some-odd years, and they'd be happy if they never crossed paths again.

But now Mel's daughter and Teeny's son have fallen in love - and announced their engagement.

Which means the two women must tolerate one another and play nice long enough to plan their children’s dream wedding. From the beginning, they clash. Melanie imagines a classy, elegant event, in keeping with tradition. Teeny's vision is a bit more extravagant, and thanks to her habit of marrying well, she's got the cash to plan the flashiest wedding of the season.

Complicating matters are the men in their lives: Tennyson is falling for the wrong guy, and Melanie is trying to hold on to a flailing marriage. Amid the flurry of cake tastings, dress fittings, seating charts, and bridal showers, Mel and Teeny confront their past mistakes - with twenty years of pent-up drama.

When the day of the wedding finally arrives, their friendship might just be something old and something new.

❤️ Omg this book is so good

I laughed out loud more times than I could count! Great quarantine book for getting in touch with your best idea for yourself! I laughed I cried and reassessed and looked for myself in the characters!!!! Non traditional, traditional story and yet just what my soul needed!! I love Liz Talleys writing it is like a warm blanket against the cold! Read her morning glory series it had similar wisdom! I purchased this book on audible and sent it to my teen girl! There are so many thing I want her to know and this book will help start the conversation!!!! Be healthy and well to all

Really fun and relatable read. Laughed out loud numerous times and found myself hiding out so I could listen for just a few more minutes. I enjoyed it very much!

BFF

This book had a slow start for me. I really was not fond of either character. They started to grow on me at the end. The ending was good I like the narrator.

If you've never had a BFF you may not get this

If you've never had a BFF you may not get this book; the person who makes you better when you're together, not in a romantic way, but in a human way, the friend who encourages you to be bold when you're afraid, who brings the Orange into your Vanilla world, that girlfriend who gets you in a way no one else ever could, she stands up for you, defends you, and makes you be better for her presence. If you've never had that, you might not completely get this book.

And what happens when that special relationship erupts, breaks down, comes off the rails in spectacular fashion. and you don't see each other for years, each thinking the other hate her, each bearing a grudge too deep to talk about, or maybe to deep to comprehend. This story unravels the truth about those kinds of friendships. And obviously I found very relatible.

Frenemies, a Love Story

What do you do when your daughter becomes engaged to the son of your former best friends and worst enemy? You slowly lose your mind. There's the wedding, your sister's illness, your husband's too flirtatious business partner, and a million more things all happening at the same time and you can't breathe. That's the story of Liz Talley's lastest. And wait until you get a load of the former best friend, glamourous much? Told with sparkling humour this is a novel to help you over the bumps in life.
Good job from Donna Postel, she can read my Southern any day.
