Publisher's summary

A woman’s suspicions about her ex-boyfriend become a dangerous obsession in a twisting novel of psychological suspense by Washington Post and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Minka Kent.

Eight years ago, Grace McMullen broke Sutton Whitlock’s heart when she walked away. But it was only to save him from the baggage of her own troubled past. Now all she wants is to make sure he’s okay.

Only everything she learns about him online says otherwise. According to his social media accounts, he placed roots in her hometown, married a look-alike, and even named his daughter Grace. He clearly hasn’t moved on. In fact, it’s creepy. So Grace does what any concerned ex-girlfriend would do: She moves home…and watches him.

But when Grace crosses paths with Sutton’s wife, Campbell, an unexpected friendship develops. Campbell has no idea whom she’s inviting into her life. As the women grow closer, it becomes clear to Grace that Sutton is not the sentimental man she once knew. He seems controlling, unstable, and threatening. And what a broken man like Sutton is capable of, Grace can only imagine. It’s up to her to save Campbell and her baby now - but while she’s been watching them, who’s been watching her?

Spend the credit!!! So suspenseful!!

Fantastic suspense novel. I love Minka Kent’s books. This one did not let me down!

I did want to scream “get over yourself” quite a lot to the main character but I liked her. I rooted for her. I liked her job and her journey.

The ending was fantastic.

The narrator did whisper but her voice was really pleasant and soothing. She gave a great performance.

Meh

This book read like the author was under strict deadline. Very underwhelmed by the plot, character development and outcome.

Good storyline

This has a good storyline, but was missing something for me. The ending wasn’t as surprising as I had hoped. Characters were good, just needed more meat.

Truly an awesome mystery.

I got the book on the sale 2 for one. I am so glad I did. I won’t spoil it. But if you like mysteries. This one will not disappoint. Minka, I shall read more of your books. This one was engaging and fun to listen too. When I thought I had it figured you threw in a twist.
I found myself listening on the way home from work and then sat in my driveway to keep listening. Go for it, you will be glad you did. The narrator was excellent. Happy listening.

Was an ok story

Definitely not my favorite book by this author. It was entertaining enough but did not really keep my attention as much as her other books. Predictable ending and the story was pretty easy to figure out early on. Narrator is one of the best in my opinion and did another great job!

solid story

solid story, easy to listen to. I wish grace's motivation was deeper, seemed too shallow. you see your ex boyfriend living a life that's questionable so you take it upon yourself to give him closure...not by emailing him and expressing your concerns or giving him the opportunity for a meeting...but by low key stalking his family...I wish I found her reasons more believable. also, I knew the wife was lying about the abuse from jump.

Very interesting protaganist, predictable ending

I loved the writing and found the watcher girl hugely interesting. But like so many authors - in order to get the plot to move, the main character has to act out of character - ie do something stupid (by any measure) in order to move to the climax of the book and create the critical moment. The author tried to justify this, but really her build up of the main character and her intelligence and suspicious nature to then have her just fall for a really weak plot line was aggravating. She pulled it out somewhat at the end with a slight twist, but still predictable. So why did I even give it a 4, because it was engaging and had an original main character and plot. So I give 5's to books that I tell my friends to read ASAP and 4's to books that I recommend when all the 5's have been read and they are looking for something original but not OMG!

Unrelatable, self-centered main character

The main character is so narcissistic and annoying. I found myself wanting to listen to the story because I was hoping there would be a good reason she was so self involved and maybe she’d become the villain or something. But no, she’s just annoying. The story wasn’t good enough to make up for her and everything was really superficial. The plot, the characters.
