Publisher's summary

Cristiano Vendetti: I wear the name proudly. I’m Italian royalty, damn near untouchable. The crux of being Vendetti is The Empire. A family of my stature has certain obligations. One of them practically archaic, as our betrothals are decided for us. Whatever to benefit the famiglia, right? I’m mafioso, trained to do as I’m told on all accounts.

I’m rewarded with Arianna, as she’s always been my choice. The woman is more of a curse in my case, as I’m already a married man. While mistresses are a common occurrence in the life, Ari is dead set on making me struggle for breaking her heart. There’s also the problem of Sofia, my wife. Do I kill her and be done with it, or give her to my brothers?

Loved Cristiano

Sapphire does not disappoint with this phenomenal book. Loved Cristiano and Arianna’s story. Dark, delicious, adrenaline racing, loss for words good. Loved the narration.

Raw entertaining, not your typical romance

In a good way. The narration was spot on and really brought feeling to the characters. I was not expecting this book. When I received the promo code the Author told be it was a dark romance and while it had dark themes and I could see other books in the series being darker I found it more taboo and soap opera dramaish, if that makes sense. And not in a bad way, it had angst, drama, action, the mafia life and drew you in. While it’s not your typical romance you do get the feels and your HEA so if you don’t mind something that will keep you entertained and a little less mainstream than pull the trigger. Wow

I’ve read this book and enjoyed it then but listening to Olivier Charlas and Madison Hatfield bring it to life was so much better. I enjoyed every single dark, twisted, and thrilling moment,

NOPE, SORRY, IT’S JUST NOT FOR ME

I do love a good Mafia love story and there’s plenty in my library with glowing five star reviews.. but unfortunately this won’t be joining them. A new to me author, a tempting teaser in the book’s Summary and, with hope in my heart, I took a chance.. which backfired all the way!! Here’s the ✖️SPOILER ALERT ✖️so fair warning..

At 18, Cristiano Vendetti is the youngest of the 7 brothers, he’s bottom of the rung and his oldest brother Matteo is Capo - they all live together in a mansion. When they lived in Italy, Arianna was his childhood ‘commoner’ friend.. and, by 15, they’d fallen in love.. but at 16, Famiglia orders from Matteo had him agreeing to an arranged marriage with Sofia, Arianna’s bi’chy cousin 🚩. Two years later - they’re the most powerful Mafia family in New York - and Matteo gives him a present. A bedraggled Arianna chained, drugged, unconscious and in a sexy flimsy nothing which shows off everything 🚩. She’s a ‘pet’ given to him to do whatever he likes to 🚩. So he lusts over her unconscious body 🚩, he fingers her 🚩, he lets his brother finger her 🚩 and he goes home to his pregnant wife and has sex 🚩. I haven’t listened to the previous two books in the series (nor will I) but it’s mentioned here that one of the family’s rules is that, on the wedding nights, the ‘consummation’ of the virgin brides should be performed in front of the other brothers 🚩.. and that they all get a turn if they want 🚩. Some of his brothers still have sex and threesomes with his bi’ch of a wife 🚩 - so nobody actually knows (or cares) whose baby it is 🚩.

Arianna ran to the Church and begged him not to marry her cousin Sofia.. but she was shamed and bundled away - and made to pay by giving the men bj’s for two years 🚩. Cristiano married for duty and to further the Vendetti bloodline, he absolutely doesn’t intend to divorce his wife Sofia and continues having sex with her 🚩.. but he is going to keep his ‘pet’ Arianna as a ‘well serviced’ secret sidepiece hidden in the basement of the Mansion’s Carriage House 🚩. Despite the bad treatment, being reduced to poverty and the male abuse after the Church incident.. despite being kidnapped from her Mother’s side and unknowingly brought to the US.. despite the drugs, chains and being held captive.. despite his wife Sofia.. well despite everything, Arianna still loves him and soon welcomes Cristiano into her virginal bed 🚩. He “mine.. mine.. mines” Arianna, takes away her birth control 🚩and soon gets her pregnant - and keeps it secrets that his wife is also pregnant and that he’ll claim the child as his 🚩. It’s ok too that his brothers joke Arianna’s baby will just be a bastard child 🚩. The Hallelujah moment comes when Arianna FINALLY wakes up and sees the thorns instead of smelling the roses.. she tries to escape.. but..... well, there’s a blah - blah - blah.. a bang.. bloodshed.. a bash.. a birth.. and a happily ever after.

I love a suspenseful, dark, tension-filled, sexy warped story and I love an alpha dark anti-hero needing redemption too.. but this has neither. There were way.. way.. way too many red flags for me - there’s also a young powerless hero, a weak heroine and the secondary characters were just plain dislikable. There were inconsistencies and flaws, absolutely no chemistry and I never felt committed to the story.. but it was SO bloody bad I just couldn’t look away. Good dual POV narration though!!

Worth a credit? Errrr.. well now, that would most definitely be a NO from me.. but this is just my view.. you may love it.
