Publisher's summary

Private investigator Sam Dyke is hired to find a man who’s been released from prison and subsequently gone missing. But the ex-con is an ex-cop who might have been imprisoned for a crime that he didn’t commit.

Working for the man’s daughter, Sam soon discovers that this isn’t just a missing persons case - there are other people involved, including the owner of a high-profile casino and a senior police officer. And when the brutal representatives of an Asian gambling syndicate show up with their own brand of persuasiveness, Sam knows that he must put things right before he and everyone he loves become potential targets.

These really are great books!!

I really like these Sam Dyke Investigtion books by Keith Dixon. I had been waiting on Book 5 on audible and here it is. I had been looking and waiting and finally found it!! I've read all of the paper versions on my kindle and I have really built up my audible books with other mysteries and hoping more would follow in this series after books 1 thru 4 were released. And when these earlier books were released Rob Ellis is not the narrator voice I had in my head. But over time I have come to really like this narrator unlike some others. Don't compare this series to others. These stand alone and are good books.
Rob projects Sam as a smart ass, persistent and mouthy character with this dry sense of humor. But he's smart too which is what I enjoy about the books. And he's not an American PI.

Sam has a real sense of morality and believes in right and wrong and never quits even at the expense of his clients. This also gets him in trouble with the law and the bad guys. I can't recall which book but a spunky female PI, Belinda, was introduced in one of his earlier books. Belinda made an appearance in this book and she's still a little spitfire and I like her. I like his son too. He didn't know he had a son. You'll have to go back a book or so to get that story. So there's always a case and some family dynamics he is learning to deal with. I enjoy learning about Sam and listening to his smart and witty mouth while he pursues and doggedly solves his cases.

I now look forward to these books on audible so keep them coming even though I've read the kindle versions. Rob Ellis is now the voice in my head for the next Sam Dyke release. Thank you Mr. Dixon.
