Good story! Surprising twists. I liked it.

I was really in for a surprise with the twists in this book. The one who was the protector turned out to be the one needing protection from! I think that the author did a great job weaving this story together.

I’m not mad at it, but…

The narrator was personally too dramatic for my liking with Laura’s character. The storyline was good, but I also found myself wanting parts to hurry up during some of Laura’s parts. Some of it was overly descriptive and I couldn’t care for it too much. I wish more of the scenery was described because I didn’t get ‘spooky island’ feels.

I didn’t mind it, but I’m not really raving over it either.

Just a taste of The Most Dangerous Game

I am so happy I didn't stop this book in the beginning, which I was very close to doing. It seemed just silly and without logic in the beginning and I had a very difficult time with the whiny, fearful heroine. As the story continued on it got more interesting and by the end of it, I was hooked. Hang in there if you have a hard time in the beginning! It gets better!!

The narrator ruined it.

First off I'd like to address the narrator. I listen to my books while driving, cooking, cleaning and while working. The fluctuations of her voice of the main character was terrible. One second she is yelling and then fades to a whisper. This made it a very hard listen because if I turned it up the yelling was too loud but it was the only way to hear the constant voice drops to almost a whisper. It almost quit listening because it truly ruined the listen. I absolutely hated the whiny voice she used for Laura. The male voice was steady and well done. as was Mia's voice.

The story was good, it piqued my interest and curiosity. I came to despise Laura, however, she was such a weak, scared female lead. None of the characters were particularly likeable, but she was the hardest to relate to. I'm glad I didn't quit, I would have missed the best part of the book.

All in all, it's an ok story with an interesting premise, a little draggy in the beginning but eventually gets going shortly before the end. I gave it 3 stars for that reason.

Great thriller

I really enjoyed this book. The narration was fantastic and the storyline kept me guessing the whole time. There were some great twists but they felt cheap to me. All the twists seem to manifest from the lies from the first half of the book. No way to guess the ending because of the fakeness of the first half. But I still loved it.

Phenomenal

I had fairly low expectations going into this one just because the title was a bit simple.
However, I was proven wrong within the first couple of chapters of this book.
It isn’t simple at all, in fact, this book has many layers and facets. All well thought out and all completely fleshed out as the story progresses.
The writing is exceptionally good.
Every scene, every interaction has descriptive elements that truly make you feel like you’re right there, for every step.
The characters are very well developed and the story makes sense.
It is creepy, clever, original, and razor sharp.
I could not believe the ending (and I mean this in the best possible sense) it blew me away.
What a totally pleasant surprise this book was.
I love when that happens! It is so rare!
Also, a truly phenomenal performance by the beloved Stephanie Racine.
She has truly evolved as a performer and I enjoy her more with every listen….
Bravo all the way around!!!
