Insightful

Good stuff! I felt this was very closely associated with Catharine Gray’s “The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober”, which Millie refers to frequently. But nonetheless, a great reminder of analyzing our relationships with alcohol and having the courage to leave it behind.

Relatable to a T

The personal stories Millie shares, I know all too well, but it makes it so much easier to read when you know you’re not the only one. 10/10 recommend if you’re sober curious

Excellent take on drinking culture through feminist lens

This was an excellent read. It allowed me to take a step back and consider why I drink and whether my relationship with alcohol is unhealthy. It provides great tools and advice for going partly or fully sober.

Relatable, helpful, inspiring

Millie is a beautiful writer and storyteller who shares a wealth of information and inspiration in this book. I appreciated her transparency as she told stories of her drinking days—the scary hookup stories particularly helped me feel a little less alone. I also learned a lot from the research she shared about alcohol’s effect on physical and mental health, and can attest that I’ve noticed many improvements in these areas after an extended break from the booze. The world needs more people like Millie who are brave enough to share their stories to help others! Whether you’re simply taking a break or quitting for good, this book will be an insightful read / listen.
