Publisher's summary

Life isn't easy when you bear the mark of the Silver Stag.

Caught between the worlds of Light and Dark Fae, Ember Kearney was born with the mark of the Silver Stag. Rejected by both her bloodlines, she's turned her back on her people to become a freelance investigator, hiring herself to take care of common problems like hen-stealing goblins.

When Ember's best friend asks for her help, it leads them both into a glittering world of conspiracy and danger. Angel's little brother has vanished, and Ember must race against time to save his life. But when Ember discovers what's happened to DJ, both she and Angel find themselves recruited into Herne's elite squad of bounty hunters. Now, Ember must not only face her heritage, but she's bound to preserve the balance between the Fae Courts, for if order isn't maintained, war and chaos will spill out into the mortal realm.

Great storyline

I like the story. The main female character is a bit immature. Didn't care for the narrator at all.

The Wild Hunt

I loved the author's change up of The Wild Hunt and all of the folklore used in this book. You can tell she is a wonderful storyteller. The only thing that sort of unfavorable was the narrator used the same voice for Ember the MC and her best friend. Nothing changed within her voice to let you know who was talking between the 2 women. I will listen to the next book and hope she straighten that out, otherwise I will just read them after. The book seems to good not to continue

Silver Stag

I was very happy to hear that the beginning 6 books of this series had been picked up for Audible format. I love the ease of Audible and the quiet of listening to a well written story. I read everything that Ms. Galenorn writes and this series is one of the best. I love the freedom that the writer has since becoming an indie author, and it shows in all her new work. The narrator Cassandra Campbell is a delight to listen to.

over all story line

the detail of the audio voice. I prefer to hear more back and forth with multiple people not just 1 person talking for all. in some cases it sounded confusing.

Boring, clunky, and overdramatic.

Took me three days to get through five hours before i just gave up. The dialogue is clunky and makes zero sense, with people repeating things over and over, only for them to somehow react surprised about the information around the fifth or sixth time something was said. Not to mention the over sharing, dude i just met you i don't care about your daddy issues! Constantly listening to people spout out their sad back stories unprompted was extremely annoying. Felt like i was in some kind of nightmarish group therapy session. It was made worse by the narrator speaking in a non stop low, slow, and sad tone of voice that never changes even when the voice description prompted a mood change. I think, thanks to her, i now know what depression feels like, or what it would sound like if a female Eor narrated a book. I couldn't really tell you what this book was about because i kept zoning out as the narrator droned on and on. Also Why does everyone in this book, even random barely mention noncharacters, get some weird tragic backstory where their parents are dead? Why do all the supposed magical creatures just look like humans? Why does a completely nonhuman who is not effected by human politics care if magical creature are bribing the government.? Honestly this book just seems to want to make it okay to be racist as long as those you are racist towards aren't human, and Ember is some weird self hating Fae. You would think a book about fighting a secret war with a team led by a god with an ogre and a harpy in it, not to mention Coyote would be a crap ton of fun. You would be so very wrong. Between the sad sack narrator and the long long political history lessons that are repeated nearly word for word several times through out the book. You are given nothing to hold your interest for long. Oh and let's talk about weird emotional shifts. This psycho chick murders a living talking and scared creature for stealing chickens when it was hungry, feels nothing but annoyance for it, then walks away like nothing happened. Later she kills two fae dudes and starts freaking out about it because they looked more human.... LADY YOUR NOT HUMAN!!! Oh, then there is this weird thing where she thinks she is cursed because she dated two dudes that died, which i thought would be used as a plot device to make her reluctant to date her hot boss, but nope he's a god so obviously he is immune.... THEN WHY HAVE THE STUPID CURSE THING!!!? Sigh this book tries way to hard and fails spectacularly at every turn. I stopped when the psychic did the stupid "OH GOD I'M PSYCHIC FEELING PSYCHIC THINGS AHHHHHHH!!!" Well what did you think was going to happen dummy? i'm done.

Eh

This was a pretty ok book but just couldn’t get through it I thought the audio might help but it’s just so drawn out and honestly quite boring there just wasn’t enough action for me.
