Publisher's summary

The Removal Man is an utterly unstoppable suspense thriller that imagines your worst house-moving nightmare—and then dials it up to 11.

Rose is moving. For her and her son, Noah, this is going to be a fresh start.

She’s almost finished packing, but Noah is determined to spend one last night camping out in the garden like he used to. Rose agrees as long as he wraps up warm inside their small tent.

Four hours later, she’s woken by a frantic banging on the window.

It’s Noah.

There’s someone in the garden.

That’s when Rose picks up the kitchen knife.

Solid language. Slow story.

The author's use of language and dialogue is engaging. But as far as the story goes, imagine taking one scene out of one of your favorite thrillers and extrapolating it out to almost six hours. That's what we've got here. The tension gets old because it tends to repeat itself over and over while little bits of revelation are tossed in. It's like a bowl of cookie dough in the mixer and every twenty minutes the baker throws in a single chocolate chip. The narrator did great but couldn't lift the writing above what it is.
