Publisher's summary

Have you ever imagined what life is like for intersex people? No one can truly understand or get a perfect picture of a situation they have never been in. It’s a mystery, but exquisite books like this help boost our creative thinking.

Taylor Storm has helped bridge the gap between imagination and reality in The Prophet’s Intersex Grandchild.

The main character, Kendall, became quite unhappy at the age of six. As an intersex child, she couldn’t decide between wearing girls’ or boys’ clothing. Friends and families found it challenging to accept Kendall for who she was, especially her mother, who became more distant each day. These obstacles aggravated things for Kendall as she swam in her feelings.

Kendall eventually had surgery against her grandmother's wishes and belief that all should happily accept what God gives one. She became a girl and went on to college, where she fell in love and married Margery, a bisexual woman. As if the drama in Kendall’s life wasn’t enough, Margery’s mother disagreed with her sexual status and relationship, while the father came out to reveal he is also bisexual.

Curious about how the drama continues from here? It is quite a rollercoaster, especially for Margery and Kendall. Listen to this novel to learn how they maneuver through life, despite criticisms and hatred from families and friends.

Engaging

Kendall is a young child who discovers early on extreme unhappiness. Kendall was confused by her parents’ differing levels of engagement and love, fear of unconditional acceptance, and everyone's emotional tug of war kept her from being herself. Her discovery and decisions are captivating, rich in emotion, and engaging.

The author, Taylor Storm crafts a poignant and captivating storyline that provides a glimpse into Kendall’s daily struggles as an intersex child highlighting the challenges of self-discovery, identity, and acceptance. The story is slow as the author takes time to build the characters, relationships, and their struggles in order to build a stronger connection. The emotions of self-discovery for each character are vividly authentic and detailed. The depth of each character is varied and set to match their role in the storyline. The plot twists are strategically placed throughout the storyline, enhancing the narrative with depth and richness.

The narrator, Steve Bramham delivers a solid performance, enhancing the emotions as communicated through the author’s words. He spoke with appropriate levels of energy and passion. His delivery was clear and focused. I enjoyed hearing him voice these characters and the storyline.

This audiobook delves into challenging topics and emotions, but the author’s writing style and the narrator’s performance provide a valuable perspective and insight. I highly recommend this audiobook.
