Publisher's summary

In The Partnership Charter, psychologist and business mediation expert David Gage offers a comprehensive guide to the art of establishing and maintaining a business partnership. The centerpiece of his approach is the Partnership Charter, a document that clearly outlines the goals, expectations, responsibilities, and relationships of the principals. The charter identifies potential sources of conflict and how they will be resolved, while addressing such sensitive issues as personal styles, values, money, and power. Illustrating every principle through engaging stories drawn from Gage's front-line experience consulting to business partners, as well as interviews with the founding partners of such successful businesses as Progressive Insurance Company and Manpower, Inc., The Partnership Charter dispels common myths and presents a practical framework for launching, building, and sustaining a thriving business partnership.

A must read if you are considering a partnership

This book dives deep into all aspects of forming a business partnership all that way to partnerships that are toxic and how to get out of them. Dave also has a consulting company that helps potential partners to see if they are a good match. I highly recommend this book!

Invaluable Guide to Ensuring Alignment on Various Working and Personal relationships

Listening to this excellent book laid bare for me where most interpersonal differences had gone awry: lack of clear agreements and understanding. While Gage's book focuses on partnerships, one can see how many relationships go off the rails when we lack clarity for ourselves, insights into others' motivations, and differing personal values in general. This practical overview could be applicable not just to partnerships but also serve as an invaluable guide to various working and personal relationships, whether they be with customers, employees, subcontractors, or even spouses.

Prevent issues

This book is not about the legal lease of a partnership agreement. Rather, it is helping partners have a clear understanding of expectations, roles, and scenarios. I am so glad I listened to it before going into a partnership. Very well written and narrated.

A classic! This book is a very well crafted look at at the benefits and substance of chartering business co-owner relationships

David Gage has done an excellent job articulating how and why to build a sound business partnering foundation with a charter agreement. I do think many of its readers might well benefit from a deeper dive into the various topics of this book. The book is absolutely a classic! I’ve seen nothing comparable since its publication. The recording is nicely narrated and does the book justice.

The book I’ve been searching for

I’ve built and sold three businesses. And two of the businesses there’s been major conflict with partners. If I had this book, we would’ve been able to resolve issues. Moving forward with my new businesses I will use the knowledge from this book to create a charter.

Muy recomendable

Realmente bueno y claro. Lo único que falta son los modelos del charter que no están incluidos.
