The clock ticks down in a heart-pounding crusade for justice

Susan Lentigo's daughter was murdered 20 years ago - and now, at long last, this small-town waitress sets out on a road trip all the way from Upstate New York to North Dakota to witness the killer's execution.

On her journey she discovers shocking new evidence that leads her to suspect the condemned man is innocent - and the real killer is still free. Even worse, her prime suspect has a young daughter who's at terrible risk. With no money and no time to spare, Susan sets out to uncover the truth before an innocent man gets executed and another little girl is killed.

But the FBI refuses to reopen the case. They - and Susan's own mother - believe she's just having an emotional breakdown. Reaching deep, Susan finds an inner strength she never knew she had. With the help of two unlikely allies - a cynical, defiant teenage girl and the retired cop who made the original arrest - Susan battles the FBI to put the real killer behind bars. Will she win justice for the condemned man - and her daughter - at last?

Perfect for fans of Karin Slaughter and Harlan Coben.

Optioned for film - with Leonardo DiCaprio attached as producer.

Rest In Peace

As a lifetime resident of Lake Luzerne who met Becky briefly as a child, I couldn’t wait to dive into this novel. A non-fiction reader myself, I appreciated the relevance to the area and the details were dead on as far as landscape and small town nature. I read it cover to cover in 2 days, and will re-read it again ASAP. Highly recommend to anyone with ears! Must read Matt’s perception of our quaint town with many real life murders to inspire many more stories!

Couldn't Put It Down

The story was engaging - the main character seemed like a real person and although the subject is dark, the details are written in such a way as to make it possible to continue listening.
The narrator was absolutely perfect, I felt she WAS Susan. Her grasp of the inner life of the main character was spot on and her ability to convincingly portray a full cast of characters while moving the story along was exceptional, like someone I knew well was telling me the story.

Great listen - recommended

I grew up in Lake Luzerne and the author accurately captures what life is like in a small town in Upstate New York. I seldom read/listen to books of fiction but was interested in this book given it's setting in my home town. What I found was that this book is so well-written that it was impossible to stop listening once the narration started. In particular, I felt the description of what it is like to have enough income to not be homeless but too little to not be in dire straits when even a minor financial setback occurs was spot on. That is certainly the way it was for our family and most of the families I knew who lived there. Great plot twists at the end of the book. Looking forward to the next book... or better yet a movie version of this book!

Shocked by positive reviews

I never write reviews but this was by far the worst written story I have ever "read". The story was crazy and far fetched on its own and the terrible writing had me completely puzzled as to how in the world this ever got published. It was childish vocabulary and just AWFUL. Please do not waste your time ..... I need to start a new book immediately to get the "bad taste out of my mouth!"
