Publisher's summary

Take a trip to the best little bakery in Brooklyn, where there’s more than a sprinkle of romance and a slice of pie makes it feel like home!

When Sophie Bennings arrives in New York, love is the last thing on her mind. Still reeling from a painful break up, she throws herself into her work as a food editor on a top-notch magazine.

Columnist Todd McLennan is everything that Sophie wishes she didn’t want. Like the gorgeous bakery below her Brooklyn apartment, he’s as tempting as the delicious cupcakes on display. Surely a little of what you fancy can do you good?

As Sophie and Todd get to know one another, a love of food isn’t the only passion they share. In the city that never sleeps, has Sophie finally met the man of her dreams…?

I liked it

I read other reviews that said there was too much swearing and sex. I didn’t think their was much swearing at all. As for the sex, the characters actually have it. It isn’t g rated, but it is written well.
The story is good. There are some funny British things that are out of place in NYC, but I got past that. I liked it.

So sweet

I found this very sweet, I loved the relationships the MC developed with the other characters in the book and watching some of those develop further into romances. I typically don't gravitate towards friends to lovers, but I still liked it! My only critique would be that there wasn't really much of a plot, it just felt more like a slice of someone's life (which it was, fairly). The only plot point was the MC getting over their ex and traveling for work. I still give it 5 stars, it really wasn't a bad read.

Disappointed

I so enjoyed the first book in this series and was looking forward to this story. The narration was irritating, the characters flat and i almost didn’t finish the book. So disappointing after the first book.

nauseatingly sweet

too much "romance". annoying actually. but a sweet book, light hearted. I like the Brooklyn vibe, and the characters. but the mid-end is just eww..

It was fine…

Many thoughts on this book. Spoiler: she turns a man from making no commitments ever to fully bypassing dating and straight to marriage. What? I mean, I know it’s fiction so whatever. That’s fine. Fantasy I suppose. But the Americans are such an American stereotype in the annoying way they speak. The whiney baker can’t handle orders in her bakery, always in distress because she can’t do her job, and charges $9 for two lattes and several pastries. I can’t even imagine where you could get all that for $9. Especially in New York. The narrator pronounces words wrong (my greatest pet peeve. Just look up the pronunciation if you don’t know the word, narrators 🙄). It was just all-in-all not a delight. It was fine. That’s about all there is to say about it.
