A Good Morning America Book Club Pick

Their lives began together, but their worlds couldn't be more different. After 30 years of missed connections, they're about to meet again....

Minnie Cooper knows two things with certainty: that her New Year's birthday is unlucky, and that it's all because of Quinn Hamilton, a man she's never met. Their mothers gave birth to them at the same hospital just after midnight on New Year's Day, but Quinn was given the cash prize for being the first baby born in London in 1990 - and the name Minnie was meant to have, as well. With luck like that, it's no wonder each of her birthdays has been more of a disaster than the one before.

When Minnie unexpectedly runs into Quinn at a New Year's party on their mutual 30th birthday, she sees only more evidence that fortune has continued to favor him. The gorgeous, charming business owner truly seems to have it all - while Minnie's on the brink of losing her pie-making company and her home. But if Quinn and Minnie are from different worlds, why do they keep bumping into each other? And why is it that each fraught encounter leaves them both wanting more?

A moving, joyful love story, This Time Next Year explores the way fate leads us to the people we least expect - no matter what the odds.

"[A] cute contemporary romantic comedy...The characters in this page-turning novel are richly drawn and transform substantially, especially Minnie, and all suggest that maybe happy ever after is up to us.”NPR Books

"If you make time for just one holiday read this year, make it Sophie Cousens's This Time Next Year."PopSugar

Excellent storytelling

The performance was done really well. I really enjoyed the different voices the narrator used for the different characters.

This story reminds me a lot of Would Like to Me by Rachel Winters because Minnie just has the worst luck. Crazy stuff keeps happening to her and it is very funny. Quinn was a good character but at times I did want to slap him. I’m glad we had the flashbacks or else I don’t think I’d like his character at all. Minnie was delightful though it was a bit annoying that she constantly talked about her bad luck. The supporting characters were endearing as well.

This book is definitely worth the credit. It has some drama, female empowerment, a goofy engagement, love, mental health issues, and family bonds being strengthened.

Realistic drama with some romance

This was an enjoyable audiobook thanks to the great narrator. It was more a realistic drama, with its many ups and downs, than a romance. Extra 1/2 star for the end

Charming!

I thought this was a delightful rom com. Just the thing to make you smile and cheer on all the characters to their own successes. I really enjoyed it!

Fun, well paced rom-com

Loved the story and characters. The story jumps right in. Minnie is sympathetic and her messiness and victim story isn’t annoying. Quinn is charming, but not flat and predictable. I was disappointed when I finished.

Spent the whole day listening

I purchased this audible book on a whim. It sounded like a really sweet comical story. It was so enjoyable to listen to! Very easy to follow. Many parts had me laughing along and tearing up. I enjoyed the narrators many voices. She performed well. I appreciate that the author is clear in her time jumps.

What could have been a predictable storyline unfolded in an unexpected way

I should be ashamed that I have come to expect predictable, formulaic plots, but Sophie Cousens has earned my admiration.

Wonderfully not what I expected.

Loved Hannah’s performance, her voice was quite entertaining. The story line was enjoyably not what I expected. Heartwarming.

Very Fun & Witty

I really enjoyed this book! I laughed out loud often and loved all of the characters, especially Minnie! This was my first read by Sophie Cousens and I’ll be downloading more of her books! I picked it based on the narrator, Hannah Arterton, because she is one of my favorite narrators. Once again Hannah did not disappoint!
