Great book for intro and advanced

Really enjoyed this book. I’ve been an entrepreneur since car washes at age 9. 35 now and have had many start ups and side hustles. I never really thought about this angle of buying a business that’s up and running. The author does a really good job of getting your creative angles flowing and makes a great case for going this path rather then starting all on your own. Looking into a total different space thanks to this book and excited to see where it takes me. Thank you Aaron! Great job.

Not enough about running the business through an operator

This is one of the only books I found, specifically written for folks, who would like to acquire a business, but not operate it full-time. In that sense, this was very helpful.

I would say, my two primary criticisms would be:

1. The whole middle of the book is about business management principles. As good as those are, there are many other books that focus more specifically on those. Would have been more helpful to focus more on the purchase itself and the specifics of how to run it without being full-time.

2. He definitely borders on preaching a left-wing approach to business as it relates to ESG. Not overly obnoxious, but still unnecessary.

Great Info

I’m currently looking to purchase a business and this strategy was eye opening. Find a business for sale, spend some time improving it, put a manager in place, then rinse and repeat. Not to mention the great info on how to value a business and/or use a business broker to make sure you are paying a good price. Great info!

Informative

The author reiterates points often from chapter to chapter which is less desirable to me, but may help instill the information in your memory. I liked the readers voice, and the direction of the book.

Great small business book

I heard Aaron on a podcast and his story of owning several businesses. I have a dream of being a lifestyle business owner and this book lays out that path very well. So glad I read it and will use it as a resource for sure.

Great Insights

This book was so well done. I highly recommend it! I’m already a successful entrepreneur but now it’s time to buy a business and skip the much of the risk of starting from scratch.

Poor Narrating

As it is stated in this and many other books. You should use someone else with the necessary skills you may not have. This author should've used another narrator with better reading and story telling skills.

Self-Promoting Business Broker

Some good info, but the author takes every opportunity to recommend the use of a business broker. And guess what? He’s a business broker! The book also meanders in the later chapters on obvious recommendations such as "hire good people", "use your time well", etc. Spend your money on HBR’s “How to Buy a Small Business” instead if you’re interested in more thought-provoking content and guidance.
