Publisher's summary

Despite its prevalence, post-traumatic stress, PTSD, is often seen as an unbeatable lifelong mental disorder. Leading trauma doctors and neuroscientists now understand that the result of trauma is not a disorder, but rather a physical injury to the body—invisible but tangible, and most importantly, treatable.

Meet Dr. Eugene Lipov. His research and partnerships have led to an amazing discovery that all trauma has at its root a single piece of human hardware: the stellate ganglion. The symptoms of post-traumatic stress are the same for all of us, whether from childhood poverty or abandonment, the ravages of war, or the brutality of sexual assault. Dr. Lipov's pioneering procedure appears to treat injury to the stellate ganglion, relieving even the worst symptoms of PTSD—irritability, hypervigilance, insomnia, and more—in a fifteen-minute treatment.

Weaving hard science with moving human stories, The Invisible Machine reveals how this treatment was developed. It also tells the incredible story of the unlikely team, including the doctor, an artist, Special Forces leadership, and a sheriff, who are working together to change our understanding of post-traumatic stress and why it matters to society.

The future is Now

This book is intelligently and compassionately written and the procedure spotlit here is slowly and surely changing our world. I’m full of gratefulness and hope today.

Narrator should be fired from audiobook business

I have never thought that a stammering individual might be able to land a job in an audiobook industry. it's hilarious, were it not so intolerable. Please do listen to the sample, it's self explanatory. I hoped that his narration manner might improve further on throughout the book, unfortunately it only got worse. Probably, I would return the book for a refund.

Excellent book on trauma how to heal it using a cutting edge treatment called DSR

This book does a great job diving deep into trauma and the impact it has on the individuals health and society if left untreated which usually is the case. Most importantly though it discusses a powerful breakthrough treatment called DSR that can help you get your life back,

In 2022 wife and I both were experiencing PTSI symptoms. It was torture and I was desperate to find a solution. I came across Dr Lipov’s work and the DSR injection. We did the procedure and it was very successful for us both and have us relief wishing 48 hours. It helped reset the sympathetic nervous system so we could calm the amygdala down and do other modalities to heal. This is a great book that explains DSR in depth and the importance of treating trauma to avoid it from causing health issues, suicide and other problems .

Fantastic book, terrible narrator but worthy read.

This book is so important in the way in which we are supporting and spreading awareness on the groundbreaking treatments for those with PTSI/PTSD and TBI. It addresses trauma across the board, big Ts and little ts, and how far reaching out is within our society. Highly recommend. I will say the narrator is horrible, I listened to this at 2x speed and eventually got used to him want it was fine but sometimes I just don't understand how in the world some of these narrators at chosen. It's worth the read though!

infomercial with poor narration

The stumbling narration of this title was trauma inducing for me. Worse was the persistent feeling of being sold a medical miracle based on a collection of anecdotes designed to pitch a service provided by one of the author's clinics with the marketing advice from the second author.

Save your money and time, Google stellate ganglion block and read the NIH summary from the national library of medicine. This is a much less bias review of the procedure and includes far greater detail of the risks and limitations and includes a collection of the studies done so far and their conclusions.

in more than 10 years of audible this will only be my second returned book.
