Publisher's summary

It all started with that night.

The night I made my biggest mistake.

The night I entered their world.

The day I snuck into the infamous Devil’s Ring Fight Club. I had followed my cousin Amelia, who turned out not to be quite as innocent as I first believed. In fact, it turned out she didn’t live in the same world as I did…Not at all.

I knew this the moment I entered his kingdom. My world changed the moment he found me. He gave me a warning that night. He told me if he ever found me again then next time, he wouldn’t be so quick in letting me escape him. His little Red Riding Hood. It was a threat I took seriously as it was only my dreams that took me back to that place. That took me back to him.

That was until they came for me. The Hell Hounds that infiltrated my peaceful world and started the hunt. And there was only one man I knew that had the power to stop them. And my price to pay, was the promise he made me.

That if he ever found me in his demonic fight club again…He was keeping me.

Meaning I only had two choices left, to become the hunted or to make a deal with Hell’s greatest Hunter…

The HellBeast King…

Jared Cerberus.

good story, okay narration

I read this story prior to audible coming out and really enjoyed it. The narration is okay, but I can't figure out if she's Irish trying to do an American accent or American trying to do an Irish or British accent. It's really bizarre and she waffles back and forth saying one word that sounds American and another word that sounds British and then another word that sounds Irish. It's really odd and distracting. I will probably listen to the second and third book as it was okay enough to continue listening. It's just a little weird and I wish she would figure that out before doing the next in the series.

As far as the story goes, it's not my favorite of Stephanie Hudson's. I prefer the Transfusion series overall, but one is okay. I am interested in it enough to continue with the rest of the books when they come out. Ella, the Fernando lead, is a little irritating at times. I understand why she is due to her circumstances, but it sometimes seems like she is creating more of the issues then helping.

Really?

I can’t stand Ella; her character is too ignorant and it’s hard to muster up any sympathy for her. The narrator’s mispronouncing of words was a bit much; I thought she took lessons from the old “Martin” TV show. I’ve already purchased two additional books in series and may ask for return of credits.

good book but...

...i can't tell if it's how the book is written or the narrator that makes the 30 year old heroine sound like a teenage brat.

storyline

I like the story but the narrator can't seem to pick an accent and stick with it. really throws it off for me and makes it hard to listen.

Too short in my opinion

Good back story of Ella for the past decade I guess and some details on her past experiences but not enough happens in the present.

A slow burn but ended up Loving it!!

It took me a few chapters to really get into this one but once I got into I really really liked it. The story is your typical fish out of water, meets enemies to lovers type trope. The main Character Ella gets in really over her head trying to protect her cousin. Again it was a slow burn for me but once the main character grew on me and the story started rolling along I loved it. It ends on a precipice where things can go either way so now Im counting the days to the second book. The narrator I enjoyed. Her accent comes and goes a little in the performance but it didn't bother me.

Good read

I’m following the After Life saga and doing so this is a must read. After reading Transfusion and loving it just as much as AfterLife if not more it is good to be once again in Stephanie Hudson’s World.
