Publisher's summary

In the vein of the Reese's Book Club x Hello Sunshine Book Club pick The Other Woman, Sandie Jones’s explosive new novel The Guilt Trip will have listeners gripped to the very last sentence.

They went away as friends.

They came back as suspects.

Rachel and Jack. Paige and Noah. And Will. Five friends who’ve known one another for years. Then along came Ali, Will’s new fiancée.

The three couples travel to Portugal for Ali and Will’s destination wedding. The weekend away at the gorgeous cliff-top villa is a chance to relax and get to know Ali a little better. She seems perfectly nice—and Will seems happy after years of bad choices.

But when Rachel discovers a shocking secret about Ali, everything changes. As the wedding weekend unfolds, the secrets each of them holds begin to spill, and friendships and marriages threaten to unravel.

In Sandie Jones’s explosive new suspense novel, jumping to conclusions can become the difference between life and death.

It’s a “grabber”!

Wow! This book hooks the reader or listener in right away. It is impossible to put it down until it is finished. The 5 main characters are all possible villains or possible good people. It takes until the end of the book to really know.

Jones has done it again!

This is the fourth audio book I have enjoyed by Sandie Jones and it did not disappoint! It kept me on the edge of my seat. Loved it!

Mediocre

Decent enough to listen to for jogging although the first half or so was tediously repetitive. I have mentioned this on the writing of another domestic suspense writer and have come to fixate on it on a number of books by similar writers. Although it seems trivial, I get so tired of the tics in this genre. People are raising eyebrows or an eyebrow constantly in these books. This is just one example. I assume it’s a lack of any writing ability that the same cliched expressions turn up in all the books. Luckily, I rarely expect much as I need to listen to something mindless while exercising. There is a group of writers who transcend the genre a bit and make it worth buying a paperback: Paula Daly, Sabine Durant, Louise Doughty amongst them.

Kept me guessing until the end, and thank you for the “loss mama” representation

I honestly did not expect this book to take the turn that it did, kept me guessing and loved it! Also, as a mom who also lost a baby at full term, I truly appreciate you incorporating that into your story, even though it was such a small, insignificant part to story, it speaks volumes that it was mentioned at all. <3 So thank you! Fantastic book and I can’t wait to check out more of your titles!

I like it

I agree with other reviewers- it’s a “soap opera”, but maybe I like soap operas, because I couldn’t stop listening. Clare Corbett does a beautiful job narrating, and Jones is amazing at making me go, “yep, I know what’s going... wait... no, I don’t.” It’s not so much “thrilling” as it is suspenseful and twisted. Definitely worth it.

Nailed it.

Love when a book can make you question everything and everyone you know. Excellent twists and unpredictable plot!

Spoiler below... Don't read if...

This book was not easy to get through. Well written and narrated, but a real struggle with the world affairs spinning around and around.
