Publisher's summary

US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn are thrust into a high-profile case when they are called on to transport two prisoners across the country on a private plane. But when the plane experiences engine trouble en route from the Pacific Northwest to Colorado, the pilots crash-land the aircraft deep in the heart of the sprawling Salmon-Challis National Forest.

When Madison and Jonas regain consciousness, they find both pilots and one prisoner dead - and one fugitive on the run. They'll have to negotiate the rugged and remote backcountry through Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado while tracking a murderer who is desperate to disappear - and will do anything to stop them.

This high-octane game of cat and mouse from best-selling and award-winning author Lisa Harris will have your heart pumping as you try to catch a fugitive with nothing to lose.

Intense Suspense and Slow Romantic Build

In The Escape, Lisa Harris delivers a fast-paced, intriguing storyline that gives readers an insider's view of the role US Marshals play in capturing a fugitive.

It’s clear that Madison James and Jonas Quinn are excellent in their roles in the Marshals office as they attempt to get into the mind of a criminal and anticipate his next move. There are plenty of obstacles thrown in along the way to keep the tension tight and the pages turning.

I didn’t realize this was the first book in the series, but when I got to the end, my first thought was that there’d better be another book. Harris excels at writing romantic suspense where the suspense is high and the romance has a slow build. It works well in The Escape and I am already anticipating book two next summer.

Pretty good…

This was pretty good overall, but the reader tries to do voices and isn’t great at it, and it got a little dragged out… maybe the author could’ve taken out 5-10 chapters and it would’ve been better because it wouldn’t drag for an hour? It’s a clean book, and I will probably end up buying the second book. The characters don’t seem to develop at the same rate, but it’s not too mushy and it is kid friendly (think 12+ in the car while you are listening).

Exciting listen

I like this story a lot. There was talk of prayer and faith in this story. NO CURSING OR PROFANITY. It was a great book with Christian values present in a sinful world. Great story line. Glad there is a second book to hopeful tie up the loose ends.

causual read

It was an alright read. It read a little bit slow. It kind of felt like it was never going to end and some of the storylines dont really make since. and it ends kind of abruptly. over all it's not a bad read. I've heard better but I've also heard worst.

Almost a cliffhanger ending

i do not like cliffhanger endings! It could be argued that this is not a cliffhanger because there is a satisfying conclusion to the search for the escaped convict. However that is not the case for the romance or the recovery of the heroine. Usually I give a book with a cliffhanger 2 stars, but the story was so good to that point that I couldn’t go that low, Anyone who likes Christian romantic suspense and likes or doesn’t mind cliffhangers will love this.

Too Sappy

A Lifetime movie in book form. Too sappy, too much faith and characters a bit too stiff and lacking in dimension. The story was not engaging nor was it strong enough to make the sappiness tolerable.

Won’t listen to more from this author.

The narrator was pretty good, though.

Not good.

Very unrealistic and annoying. I rarely write reviews but this was so bad I felt compelled to try and save others from wasting their time.

Writer makes an excellent case for why women shouldn’t be cops

Can’t hold on to her gun.
Never has a gun when she needs one.
Can’t overcome a male attacker
Gives up gun.
Fails to keep gun on person in retention holster.
Criminally naive
Author obviously has only cursory knowledge of personal defense and law enforcement tactics.
