Publisher's summary

A riveting near-future thriller. Brilliant, surprising, and unforgettable. From the NY Times best-selling author whose books have sold over a million copies.

"Richards is an extraordinary writer" (Dean Koontz) who can "keep you turning the pages all night long." (Douglas Preston)

An alien object with breathtaking capabilities. And a life-and-death struggle for the future of humanity.

Dr. Kelly Connolly is part of a top-secret team studying the most important find in human history - the Enigma Cube, an alien artifact of incomprehensible power. A cube whose technology can catapult civilization to dizzying heights - or destroy it entirely.

After years of failed attempts to unlock the cube's secrets, all hell suddenly breaks loose. Kelly and a black-ops commando, Justin Boyd, are soon fighting against all odds to stay alive, and to keep the cube out of enemy hands.

As the situation quickly goes from bad to worse, Kelly discovers that the cube is far more dangerous than even she had imagined. And that her actions could lead to nightmarish changes to the nature of reality itself.

The Enigma Cube is a masterful thriller. One crammed with breakneck action, unexpected twists, mind-blowing science, and ethical dilemmas listeners will be contemplating long after they've listened to the last minute.

"Richards is a worthy successor to Michael Crichton." (SF Book dot com)

Leave out the Nazi torture scenes

I'm a big fan of Mr. Richards but had to fast forward to avoid the Nazi torture sequences. Too terrible to endure. I wish those parts had been omitted entirely.

Best yet!

I believe that the author went out a limb with this novel and pulled it off amazingly! I also believe that this is less "transactional" than other novels from Richards. It feels more like an investment in future opportunities and I am sending this review just before going on to the next book in the series!

Thoroughly Satisfying

This is one excellent thriller. I had to think about time travel at certain points but it has fantastic action and character development.

I’m the know

The author has definitely done his research. Most of these types of books I feel like don’t get it right. This fits so well and do current knowledge and what would logically make sense it seems that it has to be inspired on another level.

Another engaging science fiction novel

Douglas E. Richards continues to write engaging novels that almost feel real. He even adds a research section at the end for source material on the future tech he writes about and that is fantastic. I look forward to another installment!

Good story

Overall it a good story, was a bit hard to follow at times. We're they in the future or were they in the here and now. It was entertaining and was worth the money.

Excellent from start to finish

One of the fastest listened books I’ve heard. Normally I just listen in my car. This book I listened to instead of watching tv many times. Great story line, unexpected often, great science knowledge as well as historical. Performance was also excellent. Would recommend in a heartbeat.

Comments from a reader

This is a very fun novel. I found the science-fiction fun and had the sort of fast pace action you would love.
