Publisher's summary

For eons, the truth about human evolution has remained hidden.
Until now....

Extinction Code

Geophysicist Jack Greer believes he may finally have found the resting place of the meteorite that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. A few miles off the Yucatán coast, Jack and a team of scientists tow an aging drilling platform over the impact crater with the aim of securing a sample. But buried deep beneath the earth lies a shocking discovery that threatens to shatter everything we think we know about our species.

A world away, geneticist Dr. Mia Ward receives a mysterious delivery from her former boss and mentor, Alan Salzburg. In it are clues of a dire warning hidden inside the human genome, one which foretells man's very extinction.

His instructions to Mia are simple: Keep the information safe and, above all, trust no one - words all the more chilling after Alan turns up dead. But who wrote the message and what does it mean? Only Jack Greer holds the answers, but can she reach him in time to save the human race?

Extinction Countdown

Dr. Jack Greer's startling discovery beneath the Gulf of Mexico proved to the world we were not alone in the universe. But when images from the Voyager One space probe reveal an alien doomsday ship hurtling toward the earth, the human race seems marked for extinction.

As news of the approaching ship spreads panic around the globe, signs of a sinister plot begin to emerge - one that threatens to unravel the already fragile fabric of society and everything Jack and Dr. Mia Ward have fought for.

But could a mysterious signal emanating from inside Greenland's ice sheet unlock the secrets hidden within our genome and prevent humanity's destruction?

From the frozen fields of Greenland to the bustling Indian subcontinent and the cobbled streets of Rome, the race is on to stop the deadliest countdown to extinction the human race has ever known.

Extinction Crisis

With the doomsday ship only days away from impacting the Earth, humanity's demise seems all but assured. In every corner of the world, news of the impending destruction has led to chaos, looting, and the collapse of the rule of law.

As the foundations of civilization crumble around them, Jack and Mia must race to find answers to perhaps the most important questions of all time. Why have the Ateans repeatedly eradicated life on our planet? And could the key to ending the cycle of extinctions be locked somewhere within the Salzburg Chromosome?

Unraveling the mystery will mean journeying deep into the heart of a perilous alien world and facing off against the very beings who created us.

Spectacular SIFI

This story is absolutely fantastic. The best science in any science fiction that I've read. The pacing is awesome between exposition and action. The narrator truly fits. It has the militaristic element that all SIFI has to have apparently, but its not overbearing and beaten onto a dead horse. I highly recommend this series. I will warn that you need all three books together. I would not have been happy with the cliff hangers in between the books otherwise.

Good and bad at the same time

I understand how much time and energy it takes to write a book much less three in a series, and how much this writer did his research. So, I give him an A+ for it. The writer did his best and really did his research on the science of the various topics. So again great job. However, there are some bad I will point out that really slowed it down for me. The whole story didn’t pick up for me until book three and at that point I was kind of turned off and wanted to finish just to do it. So the bad of this book, and trust me I hate giving bad reviews in general, is that it is heavy on the science part and pacing is slow. The characters are okay, however they shine in book three.
The voice actor did good and tried to make every voice as unique as possible. Overall, not bad but not good at the same time.

sci-fi adventure gone wrong

everything possible in one story: space ships, aliens, dinosaurs, robots, genetic engineering, genetic mutations, telepathy, under sea cities . . . maybe too much.

Intriguing story

If you like science and know some it you will recognize this isn't just made up. The author has done some good research which will be noted after the end of the story.
If you like fiction, this is story that you want to listen and enjoy every minute of.
Now combine these two areas together you think you will have a good science fiction story, but you will have a good thriller as well.
This is the first time of 200 plus audio books I have listened to, that I give 5 stars all over the board.

SciFi At It's Best

It got slowed down by what most of simple humans would call overwhelming facts BUT there began an understanding. The narrator gave it life. I GOT IT!

Disappointed, considering how highly rated it was.

There wasn't anything abnormally wrong with the story, just a common SciFi issue with wacky "science", but it is remarkably slow and unengaging, and none of the characters are particularly enjoyable. The narration is good, though!

Great Story Terrible Narrator

Love the story and all the twist and turns but man this narrator is beyond terrible especially at transition areas in the story.

Good Story Idea

The story idea is pretty good but there are some issues. The first hour or the story introduces too many characters, about 20. It's a bit overwhelming and hard to keep everyone straight. Many of them are not present past the first hour so it seemed unnecessary to give so much info on them. There is a lot of scientific information in the story. I enjoy science and specifically genetics but it really feels like too much and most everyday readers will not understand much of it. Some of the descriptions are so in depth it just feels excessive. Bits of the story and character behavior were cliché but I think it was due to the delivery of the narrator. He isn't a bad narrator but could have delivered the character voices differently to change the way they came across. I am about 6 hours in and plan to keep going a while to see if it changes.

Edit: I continued and finished the book. The things I did not like in the beginning continued. There were times I unintentionally tuned out portions because it became too technical or there were too many characters to follow. However, the story did get better, making up for the parts I did not like. Some of the early characters did reappear. The end of the book contains notes on the science included in the book (Real Life vs Fiction). It was much easier to understand than the portions through out the book. It might have helped to listen to that first or if the author had used those simpler explanations in the book.

Overall it was not bad.

Good Mystery

it was exciting when they discussed, the plots schemes. it felt as though something, exciting was going to come around the corner, but it seemed to fizzle while I was still expecting.. Great story topic.

Plausible Reality

This recording offered a great narrator who helped bring the individual characters to life.
The story itself had *many* plausible aspects which made even the slower, more technical/science bits all the more riveting! My background led to greater understanding of the scientific concepts and, frankly, has made me want to look back into a bunch of them!
Highly entertaining & addictive!
