Publisher's summary

Combining the wonder of The Midnight Library, the inventiveness of Ready Player One, and the artistry of Cloud Atlas, this novel by the bestselling author of The Oracle Year and Anyone explores the way we’re all connected—and what can happen when we lose our capacity for joy.

A few years from now, in a world similar to ours, there exists a sort of “depression plague” that people refer to simply as “The Grey.” No one can predict whom it will afflict, or how, but once infected, there’s no coming back.

A young Hong Kong based scientist, Lily Barnes, is trying to maintain her inner light in an increasingly dark world. The human race is dwindling, and people fighting to push forward are increasingly rare. One day, Lily comes across something that seems to be addressing her directly, calling to her, asking her to follow a path to whatever lies at its end. Is this the Endless Vessel to happiness? She leaves her life behind and sets out through time and space to find out.

From its opening heart-stopping scene in the present day at the Louvre in Paris, through the earthly meetings between Lily and her loved ones past and present, to a shocking and satisfying conclusion in a truly enchanted forest, Charles Soule has channeled history, science and drama to create a story for the ages—a story of hope and love and possibility. This is a novel you will not soon forget.

Fantastic Story

This held my attention from the start to the finish...and what a wonderful ending! I loved each of the characters and the narration gave them what they deserved. This is definitely a second listen kind of story.

Message of love and connection

Loved the way in which the message of connection and love were brought together in a strange and complex way

A solid outing

I very much enjoyed this book although parts of it felt very predictable. Still worth a listen if you're up for a good story.

Loved it!

This was a great story and narration all around, and a unique kind of twist on the "scifi" genre. I would definitely recommend it.

Like most of the design exl narrator

the sequence with growing food on the original ship was fanciful and unreal and with a ship that strong the trading aspect , banking, and gold would have been key equity issues, not just invention, by modern day they would have been a banking and political powerhouse not just shy hiding geniuoses

A Highly Rewarding Story.

The endless vessel has great themes about modern society, and a fascinating story with many twists. While entertaining throughout, the story gets mildly confusing about halfway through and then answers every question and brings the story together perfectly in the third act. Charles Soule is a great storyteller and I highly recommend this book.

Kind of trite

This story is exactly what you expect it to be, and that's it. If you are looking for subtlety, twists or profound insights you need to look elsewhere. If you just want to listen to another story about the AMAZING power of love -- look no farther.
