Publisher's summary

A gentleman never dallies with the help, but the new Duke of Penning is no gentleman in this steamy fourth and final book in The Duke Hunt series by New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan.

A duke with secrets.

Lucian, the newly minted Duke of Penning, has much to prove—to himself, his family and the ton. Craving spotless respectability, he must find an aristocratic wife. Unfortunately, he can’t keep his eyes—and thoughts—off his deliciously distracting housekeeper. Such a dalliance can only mar the facade he's constructed to protect his sisters' future from the demons of his past...but this fiery passion is a temptation he cannot resist. While Susanna may not the bride he needs, she is everything he desires.

A woman with a past.

As the housekeeper to one of the grandest estates in England, Susanna Lockhart has worked determinedly to become all that is proper and efficient, and she never steps over the line. Romance is an indulgence for the upper class, not for her—and most especially not with her employer. But every smoldering glance from the surly, handsome duke calls to the long-buried reckless wanton inside Susanna. A love between them can never be, but will Lucian and Susanna risk being together…

Even if it starts a scandal...

I really enjoyed that.

I took a chance on this story and it worked out. It should have way more reads and reviews. It does get a little long winded sometimes. For example, she walks in on the duke undressed and it’s a good few minutes of self-talk/reflection of past experiences before the scene resumes. I guess I enjoyed this story bc the inner conflict didn’t drag on until someone got hurt. I hate that. I appreciated their shared honesty. This is my first story with this narrator and her male voice was great!!!! She switched between the characters flawlessly. I did not read the first 3 stories and still enjoyed this one.

the characters and their choices stood out the most. I also loved the plot.

I enjoyed the theme of good versus evil and I especially appreciate the felt presence of love in the characters

Entertaining listen!

I think Karen Cass is my new favorite narrator. This is only the second book by Sophie Jordan I have tried, but it was as fun as the first. It’s a perfect regency romp. Nothing too deep or poignant, just good, easy listening. Definitely recommend!

Needed to be longer...

I liked the premise of the story... a compelling and sexy story...but it felt like the author didn't feel like spending too much time on it...could've been much better if she developed the drama and relationship more...
the narrator has really good and sexy male voices but overall wasn't my favorite

Good narration

considering the length of the story, it felt like the storyline was missing something. It was fine, but not sure if I will try another from this author.

Dragged on - word salad

Same story different characters actually started off OK for about one or two chapters. Then it was a filler and maybe one chapter towards the end but no excitement draw imagination. Even the mature scenes were kind of dumb. I will give the narrator high stars because she did a good job on the voices.
