Publisher's summary

Deep within the jungles of Borneo flows a legendary river of diamonds....

An ex-marine on the run from the nightmares of war. An American scientist and his beautiful wife on a desperate journey to save their marriage. An aging native shaman trying to teach his grandson one last, all-important lesson. All are headed up an uncharted river into a confrontation with a mysterious warlord trapped by a deadly curse.

The Diamond of Jeru is a tale of love, redemption, heroism, and magic from master storyteller Louis L'Amour. Set in Sarawak in 1955, this full dramatization features an international cast of actors, cleverly crafted sound effects, and a stirring musical score that combine to create a unique audio adventure.

Before he ever wrote about the American West, Louis L'Amour traveled in the Far East. His adventures inspired numerous stories set in China, British Malaya, Arabia, and The Netherlands East Indies. L'Amour has written 90 novels and over 230 short stories in addition to nonfiction and poetry. He has received both the Congressional Gold Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. There are over 300 million copies of his books in print.

Critic reviews

"The music is evocative of classic 1940s film scores, and the lush and detailed sounds of rushing streams and ever-present jungle critters practically surround the listener. Seasoned professionals abound in the cast, making this a fine adventure." (AudioFile)

More audio dramas

Great way to make a short story better, wish they would make more of these faster. I got a lot of Louis L’Amour stories in my library, but the dramas are some of my favorites.Even when some of the narration only books are better stories. This one is worth purchasing, it’s simple and pulpy but classic L’Amour the actors and sound effects are top notch and can be listened to multiple times without losing interest.

Top notch performances and effects. Nobody does it better then Louis Lamour. We're glad to see them still producing these. More please!

A meticulous recreation of L'Amour's tale...

This audio version of the diamond of jeru is my favorite, over the movie and short story. Reinforced by sound effects, dialect appreciation, and great performances, the story comes alive in your mind as Mike Kardec seeks his own redemption through misadventure and self awareness. A delight to listen to and highly recommended!

Not worth a credit!!

Not his best work, it was not worth the credit. I love the author but The Diamond of Jeru was a terrible disappointment.
