Publisher's summary

Margaret Wilder’s life is about to be turned upside down when her husband of 15 years abruptly leaves without an explanation.

Now as their young daughters struggle to understand why their dad has been gone for a month without so much as a phone call, Margaret begins to uncover her husband’s secrets while unraveling her own long-buried feelings about their marriage.

On top of all the personal turmoil, Margaret’s job at the wildlife refuge has cut back her hours, and a storm approaches that could ruin all of the hard work she’s put into one of her greatest joys: her annual vegetable and flower garden.

As she forms an unlikely friendship with her handsome coworker, Dave, things take a turn when she is offered a great opportunity to build the garden of her dreams on a piece of land by the beach.

In the first book of the Cape May Series, follow the twists and turns of Margaret’s journey as she picks up the pieces of her life with the help of family and friends in the beautiful Victorian beach town of Cape May, New Jersey.

Mediocre narration

Story was OK, but very predictable. The narrator paused at awkward moments. It didn’t feel fluid.

Story good, performance not

I enjoyed the story, but the performance of this was horrible! She speaks so haltingly. I barely made it all the way thru. I planned on getting the whole series, but if it’s the same person reading it, I definitely WON’T!

Feel Good for the Soul

Nice refreshing story about the happy and good outcome despite a husband/dad's betrayal. A family will survive and prosper while pushing forward with their dreams and hard work. A good read and story plot.

An Easy Light Read

The headline says it all. This is a nice easy read. Predictable and with little conflict. The reader has a pleasant voice but is a bit of a slow reader. I'll probably get the other two books in the series just to see what happens to this family.

poor reader

The narrator of this book is just awful! Boring tone, all the characters have the same voice. she doesn't even try to make them sound different so sometimes you don't know which character is speaking. Her reading is choppy, there's pauses after every sentence. If the same narrator reads the other books in the series, I will not be purchasing them. I am sorry I wasted a credit on this book.

Narrator is so awful I can not listen

This narrator is awful. She sounds like a sarcastic, petulant brat. I can't even get through the first chapter. Just awful.

Amateurish

This was bad on all counts for me but let’s face it, reviews are subjective. If I didn’t just return two other audiobooks for a refund of my credits, I would return this as well but I don’t want to take advantage or overdo it. I will not be listening to the rest of the series. I’m disappointed.

Just don’t do it

Save yourself a credit. The story wasn’t great, and the narrator was just horrible. Thank god I can get my credit back.

Wow…&, sadly, not in a good way

To each his/her own…
Will keep this brief - the writing was juvenile, at best, & the narration was abysmal.
The 2 starred rating on performance was an error, but once done, couldn’t be undone.
Regret not having returned it.
