Publisher's summary

It's a holiday hunt at big rack lodge...and Cherry Tucker just found the body

From The Wall Street Journal best-selling author, Larissa Reinhart, the fifth in the Cherry Tucker award-winning Southern humorous mystery series. For those who love country-fried cozies with action, quirky characters, and a side of romance, you're going to love the trouble-magnet Southern artist and amateur-sleuth Cherry Tucker.

"With witty banter, Southern charm, plenty of suspects, and dead bodies–you will not be disappointed!" (Tonya Kappes, USA Today best-selling author)

When Cherry Tucker's invited to paint the "kill portrait" for the winner of Big Rack Lodge's Hogzilla hunt, it seems like a paid vacation. Back home in Halo, a Hatfield-McCoy-style standoff builds between Luke and Cherry's families. She's ready for a weekend away, hobnobbing with rich and famous hunters, where she can forget her troubles and nobody knows her name.

As Georgia sunshine turns to bleak December rain, Cherry's R&R goes MIA when she finds a body in the woods. While the police believe the local drunk took an accidental spill, Cherry has her doubts, particularly when a series of malicious pranks are targeted at the rifle-toting contestants. With loyal companions at her side–sort-of-ex-husband Todd and a championship bayer named Buckshot–Cherry tracks suspects through a forest full of pitfalls and perils. And all the while, a killer's stalking the hunt party with a bead on Cherry.

“Reinhart’s charming, sweet tea-flavored series keeps getting better.” (Gretchen Archer, USA Today best-selling author)

"This series continues to entertain me with the tenacity that is Cherry Tucker." (Dru Ann Love, Anthony Award Winner, Dru's Book Musings)

"Anyone who likes humorous mysteries will also enjoy author Larissa Reinhart, who captures small town Georgia in the laugh-out-loud escapades of struggling artist Cherry Tucker." (Fayette Woman Magazine)

A fun Southern cozy mystery!

The Body in the Landscape is the 5th book in the Cherry Tucker series. This book is a light-hearted humorous cozy mystery with likable characters especially Cherry. Cherry is invited to Big Rack Lodge’s hog hunt along with her super nice friend Todd. Cherry is going to paint the portrait of the winner. Cherry and Todd find a man dead. She ends up traipsing through the woods looking for clues and questioning the other participants for most of the book. Cherry is also dealing with her secret relationship with Luke who is back in Halo. The ending is good. I had the audiobook narrated by Joan Dukore. She does a good job but the men’s voices are difficult. I received a free audiobook from Larissa Reinhart and I voluntarily leave this review.

Feisty Cherry is Back!

Cherry is back and as feisty as ever! To get away from the drama she is experiencing at home with the arrest of her brother and her romance with Luke on hold, Cherry accepts a commission to paint the winner who bags Hogzilla. Todd is back as Cherry's sweet sidekick and protector, along with many colorful characters. Joan Dukore does a fabulous job of bringing each character to life in her voice narration. The mystery was intricately woven with southern charm and grit. It wasn't my favorite Cherry Tucker installment, I was possibly just missing Luke, just as Cherry was, but Buckshot was a great addition. 0

Cherry does it again!!

Such a wonderful group of characters that make laugh while listening to murder and drama. It’s never the perpetrator I think it is. I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens in Cherry’s love life.

The Body in the Landscape

This was a fun cozy mystery! I loved the character Cherry and her musings. Cherry’s off to paint a portrait of the winner of a large hog hunt. Expected fun quickly turns bad once a dead body is discovered. Rainy weather and suspicious events add to the unfortunate events occurring. There were lots of interesting characters in scenes throughout the story.

No Rest for Cherry!

Cherry begins this adventure trying to indulge in some rest and relaxation as part of Max’s entourage to Big Rack Lodge for a hog hunting tournament. Max has a side bet with one of the contestants and Cherry has been asked to paint the portrait of the winner. Cherry is enjoying the scenery and working on a landscape when she discovers a body and the rest she deserves is history.

Cherry’s stubbornness and never quit attitude takes us on an adventure with twists and turns, a lot of soggy clothes and very little sleep. Thankfully, she has loyal Todd to help her navigate through the clues because she’s also feeling guilty about her secret relationship with Luke and is reluctant to ask for his help. Cherry puts herself in more danger this time, but picks up a second side-kick named Buckshot. Never underestimate a sassy southern girl with a loyal dog!

Once again, Joan Dukore is fantastic and brings the story to life. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
