Publisher's summary

I travel through life dancing.

All I ever wanted to do was dance, as did my best friend. We'd made so many plans together, but one night an explosion changed it all. Only one of us survived, and I promised myself I'd succeed for us both. And I did, until an accident almost ruined my career, but Maze came back into my life when I needed him most. He pulled me out of the depths of my despair. But could I save him now?

I travel through life fighting.

It had always been Ivy; from the first moment I saw her leaping through the air like she had wings to lift her from the ground. But she was my dream, something I wanted more than anything else in my life. I promised myself I would stay away from her. Violence followed me everywhere and I tried to keep her far away from it. She was my point of illumination in the dark tumultuous world I lived in. But I could not stay away from her. Not when I knew she needed me. As much as I needed her. But could she accept me as I am?

Cliffhanger

I wish I'd known that this had a cliffhanger before I started listening to it; guess I should have read some reviews first. I'm disappointed that the cliffhanger wasn't disclosed in the books blurb .

Super good story

I really liked this. The whole bi-racial thing was mention maybe once... and didn't really play a big part of the story...which I liked, because the story is not about the color of thier skin, but the characters themselves...

Now I felt doom and gloom through the first half of the book because the blurp says someone is going to die.. and soon as we Ivy's BFF we know... doom and gloom is on the horizon.

Now... Maze... the whole Chinese Mafia thing through me for a loop...but I liked it... it was a nice dramatic touch to the story...

But the ending... Seriously... can you say CLIFFHANGER...

This book was time well spent.. worth a credit or a sale... maybe not a buy unless it's under 10 bucks, which I think this was... so happy listening...

Oh... narration was pretty good too!

Great

I really liked this book and would recommend this book. I wish this book was a movie or TV show. It had a great storyline and sexual storylines. I wish this author didn't use God's name in vain. You don't have to use " GD " to have a great book. I would have given it 5 stars if not for that. I can't wait to listen to book 2.

An Interesting New Adult Story

4 Stars / 2 Steam Fans

This was a fun, sweet, with a little bit of sexy story. Ivy and Maze meet when they are vacationing and have an instant attraction; however, Ivy is a teenager and Maze is getting ready to move around the world then tragedy strikes. Maze and Ivy go their separate ways until Maze seeks out a reconnection with Ivy years later. Secrets are revealed and reconnections are made. This story was very much a new adult story by a black author that I had never read anything from.

This book was read for #blackathon challenge - Hear Us and #romancegenreathon.

This specific video review will be included in the January/February 2019 wrap up.

convince me with your words

Loved the story. However like so many audible books, who use only one narrator to narrate male and female characters, it fails to complement the book. When I read a good story, book/novel, I visualize what the character(s) sounds like and look like. A good author, storyteller paints the picture and creates that visualization with written words. A good narrative should do the same with spoken words. When I close my eyes and listen to an audible book, I want to believe that I am listening to the characters, feeling the passion, the action and interaction between the characters. Overall the narrator was ok.

Beautiful Story

What did you love best about The Ballerina & The Fighter?

I am a former dancer so I love all things ballet. As a hopeless romantic I want everyone to find their soul mate.

ok good story

Lost stars for anticlinatic...story lead you up to final battle which completed in a dull way & then you're thrown the infamous series cliffhanger...seemed cheesy and gave the feeling this is half a story.. if it's a stand alone its dull if not it's my pet pee again of a book that is an incomplete story & only a set up for the next book. also a male & female narrator would have helped the audible book.

Sad story

There was down feeling to most of this story. I prefer a more upbeat or exciting tale. The romance was slow and not very interesting . I stopped listening. May return later to finish?!?
