Publisher's summary

From the number-one best-selling author of The Alchemist comes an inspiring story about a young man seeking wisdom from an elder, and the practical lessons imparted along the way.

“A novelist who writes in a universal language.” (The New York Times)

In The Archer we meet Tetsuya, a man once famous for his prodigious gift with a bow and arrow but who has since retired from public life, and the boy who comes searching for him. The boy has many questions, and in answering them Tetsuya illustrates the way of the bow and the tenets of a meaningful life.

Paulo Coelho's story suggests that living without a connection between action and soul cannot fulfill, that a life constricted by fear of rejection or failure is not a life worth living. Instead one must take risks, build courage, and embrace the unexpected journey fate has to offer. With the wisdom, generosity, simplicity, and grace that have made him an international best seller, Paulo Coelho provides the framework for a rewarding life: hard work, passion, purpose, thoughtfulness, the willingness to fail, and the urge to make a difference.

Amazing short book

Was gifted this book for my birthday and as I have read The Alchemist I knew this book had to be great as well. Well it has lived up to my expectations and was a great short book that I can always pick up and read again! I’m glad this was the first audible I got to hear and experience.

My all time favorite author 💕

When it comes to Paulo I think there is not one of his books I haven’t loved. His stories can be related on the day to day

A new favorite for any artist.

If you have an art form, this book is for you. I didn’t appreciate The Alchemist the way I appreciate this book. This is so simple and so elegant, just the way an art should be.

Some favorite lessons that I got out of it:
Be clear about your intentions each day.
Give yourself permission to rest.
Visualize God always by your side.
Regard your goals/target with respect and dignity rather than as enemies to be conquered.

This was my first read through. I’ll read this again and again, the same way I do with The Four Agreements and there will always be something new that jumps out at me. This book came to me at the perfect time.

Great short story

To put yourself into the story is always a gift, from what I have found with Coelho's writing. I want to be the archer and the teacher, as well as the student.

A great book

A wonderful book that I found to be relatable and generally worthwhile to get through. I found this book to be maturative and developmental for a young man coming of age such as myself. I further highly recommend this book.

A Masterpiece in Less than an Hour

What a vivid short story. I absolutely love how moving and thought provoking it was in such a tight package.
