Publisher's summary

Five days in the grinder. Five days of endless pain and no sleep. Five days of the hardest work imaginable-it’s the work of surviving and not one second of it has been easy.

This is the story of how the world ends as we know it. It’s the story of the apocalypse. It’s the story of how we lost.

The fifth day begins in a bloody fight that stretches across the globe because, as you will see, the consuming hate, the greedy hunger, and violent anger found in the zombies was not instilled in them by the infection. No, these traits were already there even before they turned. These are human traits and they are never more apparent than when our backs are against the wall.

From the Staten Island kindergarten teacher, to the Armenian plumber, to the Chinese shoe salesman, all the things that makes zombies so terrible is a part of who we are.

Those of us who can fight against these urges are called the good guys. There’s very few of us left at the beginning of day five and by the end...well, you will have to see for yourself if there are any good guys left when the clock strikes midnight on humanity.

great story with a horrible ending

The story is well written and the narrator dies a great job. But in the end I was left unsatisfied with how quick and ugly the wrap up was

Quite the finale!

I haven’t read many zombie stories and was a bit hesitant once I found out how the zombies in this saga behaved. I came to love the depth that the few “intelligent” zekes brought to the story. Jamie Lynn is by far my favorite character in the entire series. This 5-book tale of the end of the world(as we know it) was truly a magnificent thrill ride full of truly despicable people, brilliant bad guys and stupid protagonists.

The tyrannical destruction of America. 😔🤬

Deckers death. Plus, Someone should have unalived this Joe pres. character early on. Cowardice always gets me😆

On the edge of your seat disbelief

The author really hits the nail on the head when it comes to ineptitude and corruption in the government exacting high costs to the nation. Where single individuals can ruin the hope of everyone. The incompetence of these individuals caused me physical pain as I hoped for the survival of my favorite characters, which was never guaranteed.

A Zombie series NOT to be missed!

I LOVED this series of books, each one as good as the last. I hope he makes a follow on series about the forbidden areas, and Jamie Lynn. I had to laugh about the President being an incompetent old fool, who was loosing his grip on reality.....hmm!!! The narrator was amazing, one of the best I have listened to. I'm definitely going to miss listening to these books, very enjoyable.

well..

Let me just say, this is an amazing series and I really wish the author would use Erik in more of his work. Despite being on the fence, I have to say I really enjoyed this story and am glad Iistened to it. The writing is just as good as the other books in this series and the narration (as always) was spot on. A large part of my love for this series definitely had to do with Erik Johnson's narration and how well he portrays the different characters. Definitely one of Peter Meredith's better series and I hope he continues it in some form or another! Fingers crossed!
If you're on the fence about getting this, just do it . Then reread the entire series.. because it's just that darn good!
