'What are we to do about the bees?' asks the ant to the butterfly, in this gentle eco tale.

For the first time in ant’s memory, butterfly has no words of comfort. A newly hatched butterfly thinks he has an answer, but it will require many wings and great cooperation.

An uplifting story that brings new meaning to the phrase 'the butterfly effect'.

Highly dependent on purpose for reading

To simply read this story to a child I would struggle at giving this a 3 star rating. HOWEVER, with an older kids you can use some critical thinking skills & if you have a class this would be an excellent lead in to have THEM write the conclusion about the boy's perception and compare and contrast.

***Not a book for mere pleasure for a young child.

Learning finds away

The premise of the story give children a simplified version of the interaction of anime cycle from the insect section and humans impact on how they need us to change to ruin an aspect of nature’s beauty.

Not My Favorite

This is the first of Dina Gregory's that didn't absolutely delight me . . . there was no point or conclusion . . . oh, well, can't win 'em all . . .

A conversation starter on the importance of bees

“What does a beginning sound like?”
Beautiful, sorrowful, hopeful for those of us who worry about the bumbles.

how lovely

Of course it's too short. That's the point. The book can't tell us what happens next, because we have to decide that for ourselves.
