Publisher's summary

When Alaric Mason flies a new client into a remote area of the Pacific Northwest to study a population of grizzly bears, it’s supposed to be a routine trip. But when an EMP is detonated during the early morning hours, Alaric must lead himself and his client out of the dangerous wilderness and to his family before the chaos of the EMP reaches his homestead.

The Last Cabin

A cabin on the outskirts of a city becomes the sanctuary for a mother and her two children during the unfolding crisis of an EMP.

Life has hardened Joanna Mercer, and she has spent the past four years since her husband's death preparing herself against the uncertainties of life. After an EMP destroys the nation's power grid, every ounce of that strength will be tested.

Good stories

The stories are fairly interesting. I enjoyed them and would recommend hearing them. Enjoy! A lot of hours to listen to.

disappointed

The lack of character development and the inconsistency of any common sense just gets to be boring and off setting.

At times the characters are smart enough to prepare for bad times and all at once the go stupid, For example one is smart enough to have a cabin with food and supplies but is dumb enough to bring in someone he doesn't know and show him what he has.

Decent story

Story wasn’t bad. Kinda what you expect from the genre. Many of the details when it comes to weapons are the opposite of researched. If you know anything about firearms, there are parts that will definitely get on your nerves. The woman who read the story sounded like a female Ben Stein. Very monotone and the way she pauses every few words was quite annoying. Good books over all, just wish they would have done just the tiniest bit of research and hired someone to read it that could actually get you engaged with the story.

Author’s Obsession w Violence Against Children?? Such a Dumb Book

This book is so incredibly stupid. Very random, improbable and BORING!!! Seems the author is obsessed and fixated on violence and torture of young children. This author should have a psychiatric evaluation.

Better at 1.35x, a standby Blackhawk helicopter?

Another half-baked post-apocalyptic book. Woman trusts a stranger she just met with info about her "homestead," black tanks invade as if they materialized from thin air within minutes of an EMP, husband's war buddy has a fully equipped working Blackhawk helicopter in storage.

Narration is very slow, but it sounds better if you speed it up to 1.35x.

Could have been good if the author bothered to do basic research.

This had the potential to be a fun story... Unfortunately, the author failed to perform even the most perfunctory research into firearms. Because of that, he lost me because of the massive distraction that it became. The only people who describe a particular firearm as an "Assault Rifle" are people who are ignorant of what they actually are or people with an anti-firearm agenda... Certainly not Law Enforcement Professionals and people who take their own personal defense into consideration. Add to this the excessive work to make the heroine a heroine, instead of just letting the characters naturally develop and we end up with a disappointment. I'm bummed because it started out well, actually pulled me in... and then threw a bucket of ice water on me and kicked me out of the story's reality. BTW 225 is not any rifle caliber anywhere, and definitely not a military caliber. Please take the notes and get better. You have potential but you need to put in the work. I feel bummed that I spent my monthly credit on this. Please do better.

WHAT?

"They were 225 shells. Most likely fired from an assault weapon, like an ak47 or m16"

I ignored some things in the book, but this? This is just ridiculous. I want my credit back
