Publisher's summary

Book one in the blockbuster Maze Runner series that spawned a movie franchise and ushered in a worldwide phenomenon! And don’t miss The Fever Code, the highly-anticipated series conclusion that finally reveals the story of how the maze was built! When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He’s surrounded by strangers - boys whose memories are also gone.

Outside the towering stone walls that surround them is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It’s the only way out - and no one’s ever made it through alive. Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying: Remember. Survive. Run.

The Maze Runner and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and Maze Runner: The Death Cure all are now major motion pictures featuring the star of MTV's Teen Wolf, Dylan O’Brien; Kaya Scodelario; Aml Ameen; Will Poulter; and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.

Disturbingly addicting...

What made the experience of listening to The Maze Runner the most enjoyable?

I hope that this doesn't mean I am easily entertained but this story felt like putting on an old jacket. The premise is familiar. The characters are flat. The maze seems cliche. Only one enemy. Yet I liked this book a lot. Maybe its just satisfied a need to just listen to a book that didn't have deep plot twists with multi dimensional personalities. A good book to listen to if you just need a break from the ones that force you to think and focus.

What other book might you compare The Maze Runner to and why?

If you were to mix that Jim Henson movie "The Labyrinth" with "The Hunger Games", you would have "The Maze Runner".

Have you listened to any of Mark Deakins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've never had the pleasure, but I think he did a decent job. Not every character had the same voice. One even had an accent which he pulled off convincingly.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Get ready, get set, GO!

Any additional comments?

I think this book was written for young teens simply because I keep getting hung up on grammatical errors. I can't be specific but they are there and are distracting.

WOW

At first I thought this was just a book that they made a movie out of in hopes to make it rich. BUT LET ME TELL YOU they didn't need hope to make money of this book. Yes I recommend this book to all ages.

interesting plot but no conclusions

The book is interesting enough, however it fails to answer many of the readers questions and forces one to read the sequels. really leaves reader hanging, kinda frustrating.

slow starter, great finish

I'll admit I almost stopped listening a few times but my 15 year old daughter kept urging me on. I am glad I finished it as the last half picked up the pace and offered a thrilling ride as well as surprising ending. This could be a bit on the frightening/gory side for younger listeners, but a fun read for any teen.
