Publisher's summary

Seventeen-year-old Julia is finally living the good life. She's traded a hard cot in a Memphis orphanage for her very own room in a perfect little house, on a perfect little street, with a perfect set of parents who picked her to be their daughter. But Julia is hiding a secret - and one fall night, she returns home from a friend's house to find that her secret has found her. Her 'forever home' is ashes. Her parents are dead. And, in the sky above the flames, a winged creature hunts her. The Nephilim King, Samyaza, has taken everything from Cayne. After struggling in the darkness for years to piece together his shattered life, Cayne is finally ready to confront his past and avenge the loss of everything he loved. He tracks Samyaza to a Memphis warehouse, where he winds up flat on his back, in the healing hands of a beautiful, dark-haired girl he doesn't need to know. Unbeknownst to either of them, they are already bound. Cayne's past holds the answers to Julia's future. But what will pose the greatest threat to her? The bounty placed on her head by the leaders of two Celestial realms, or giving her heart to a man who is bound, by birth, to break it?

Entertaining

I personally liked the whole story in general and I see where the author is heading to. There’re chapters that I was struggling with to wrap my head around; specially Cain’s and Julia’s feelings development after the emotional interchange they had during the train, I felt a lot was left out when it comes to the first touch experience between them. The visions are so annoying and I really tried to get into them but I had a hard time to take a grip of what the author was trying to describe on them, it was a little messy specially at the blind psychic. ( yeah I don’t remember the name nor see the importance of her roll or her son, a little of more propose would had been better) The fact that Julia is 17 and Cain around 200ish bothers me to be honest. The ending was not good to be honest and had room for a better cliffhanger. The narrators saved this book and provided an awesome performance, I am already a big fan of Anthony Ferguson and he did not disappoint. Overall, it was entertaining.

Good story

It's not my favorite story, I probably will never listen to it again but it was good. I thought the narrators did a great job and added a lot to the story.

Young Adult Teen Book

i wish Audible would label YOUNG ADULT books. This would be a great read for a pre-teen or teen. Not for me!

Horrendous -- Run Away

The first book in this series is seven hours of infatuated girl with squeaky narration voice declaring, "what does stained mean?" Oh brother. I finished it, but there is no way on this planet you can persuade me to listen to another one.I just don't care what happens to Julia and Cayne. Audible tagged this book as young adult. It should be young teen instead on a good day and then still don't listen.

The narration was awful and the back and forth between Elizabeth and Anthony was a disaster in tone and dialog. Big thumbs down.
