Publisher's summary

At the conclusion of The Mark of Athena, Annabeth and Percy tumble into a pit leading straight to the Underworld. The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy's instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. If they can fight their way through the Gaea's forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors from both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape?

They have no choice. If the demigods don't succeed, Gaea's armies will never die. They have no time. In about a month, the Romans will march on Camp Half-Blood. The stakes are higher than ever in this adventure that dives into the depths of Tartarus.

This book saved my life

This book hit me on a personal level and believe it or not saved my life.
I was strutting into my kitchen as my cat was peeing on my toaster, as I jumped to stop him, it EXPLODED and the cat flew into the air from the explosion right into my face. I don’t remember much after for the Feline had nocked me out COLD. Anyway I am told the shock wave blew me away all the way into the living room. I was found under the sofa that had been turned over. The dogs cats snakes and pet rats had all been flung out the window. Despair filled my hart, long before I was found there was no hope. i had awoken but I could not get up. But In exactly 420 minutes and 26 seconds, my iPhone 11 pro s max se plus c 5g, was Heard playing this heroes of Olympus audio book. and they found me because of it so...
Ricky oh boy, my whole hearted thanks goes out to you. My wonderful boomer.

Helpful Advice to Those Struggling With the Reader

I see a lot of negative reviews commenting about the narrator's bland voice, but I found that speeding up the playback speed to 1.2x or 1.25x makes the narration seem much more reasonable. The inflection in his voice suddenly seems, at least a bit, more lively and you're not losing yourself in thought mid sentence. That said, I do still prefer the previous narrator but really, no narrator is going to be absolutely perfect for everyone.

Good story but very poor performance!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would ONLY recommend this book if they have read the first four.

How could the performance have been better?

The only way to improve the performance would be to use someone else. He cannot keep his voices separate and has a hard time with the female characters to list a few problems

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I think this is the weakest of the series. It's very "dark"

Best Book in the Series

This book is seriously worth the listen. The story is compelling and the narration is good. He does a nice job of giving each character a different voice. I remember reading this book when it first came out, and it was really nostalgic and sort of emotional getting to listen to it almost 10 years later.

Story: AWESOME…. Reader: bad

I loved the story Rick Riordan cooked up this time!!!
It was so thrilling and fun
However I disliked the reader’s voice
He made the character’s voice so whiny
He kind of ruined the story……:(
Please use another reader for this book ;;
