Keep your enemies close.
For the first time since moving to New Salem, Cassie Blake feels normal. She's dating her soul mate, Adam, and making new friends in town. But between the secret coven of witches she belongs to and the incredible power she holds within her, Cassie is leading a far from ordinary life. When tragedy strikes the Circle, Cassie realizes being extraordinary can be a curse.
The Circle is being hunted by an unknown enemy - and anyone could be the next victim. As they struggle to protect themselves, alliances are formed and relationships are tested. No one knows who to trust or who to fear. Will Cassie be able to save the Circle...and herself? Or will her choices break it apart forever?

I wasn't sure how the book was going to turn after the previous books parts. Some interesting elements were introduced in this books, a couple new characters as well and some surprising twists. The narration is what I have come to expect from The Secret Circle and delivers as I would expect it to with nothing extraordinary to speak of.
To be honest I thought the book series had ended after the third book. Everything appeared to be tied up to an extent and left me thinking there was nothing too major to be resolved. So I was quite surprised when I was browsing the site and found that there was another book out.
This fourth book to me reminds me of the first book where L.J Smith was putting the elements in place for the book to 'pick up' later on. It reminds also of one of the more annoying aspects of the books for me surrounding the teenage-fated-to-be-forever-love thing. That's not to say the book wasn't good and it did have a lot of exciting parts and twists about it, I actually enjoyed it and am also genuinely interested as to how it will proceed. I am a bit wanting as it regards to character development of anyone in the circle other than Cassie though... The circle is twelve witches and at most the only ones who had made any meaningful development/change to me are Cassie and Faye.
Overall to me a good starting point for what is to come.... Whatever it is....
SOMEONE WHO HASNT READ BOOKS ACTUALLY WRITTEN BY LJ SMITH AND WOULD THEREFOR HAVE NO EXPECTATIONS.
NO IT JUST MAKES ME DOUBLE CHECK WEATHER OR NOT AN AUTHOR HAS ACTUALLY WRITTEN THE BOOKS AS DISPLAYED.
SHE GIVES THE CHARACTERS LIFE AND SETS A GREAT TONE FOR THE SERIES.
SHAME ON YOU AUDIBLE FOR PROMOTING THIS BOOK AS WRITTEN BY LJ SMITH SO THAT IT WOULD ACTUALLY SELL. I DIDNT EVEN REALIZE IT UNTIL PART WAY THROUGH THE BOOK WHEN I STARTED ASKING MYSELF WFT SHE WAS DOING TO THE STORYLINE. THEN AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS WAS WRITTEN BY SOME GHOSTWRITER SINCE APPARENTLY SHE WAS FIRED FROM WRITING HER OWN SERIES. I DESERVE A REFUND ON MY CREDIT FOR THIS ONE.
Yes and this was very good.
Both yes and no. Its obvoius very different than the other books in the serie and when i find out that l.j smith did not wrote this i can se the difference.
Wish that l.j smith wrote it so the characters were as they used to be.
it was a ok story. the ending was horrible made me want to file charges for leaving the readers in such a state.
there has to be a follow up the ending left no choice.
** spoiler alert ** The original books by LJ Smith were really good, this one seemed just as cheesy as the TV show was.
Throughout the whole thing it seems like Cassie is torn between Adam and Nick... but if your SO in love with Adam, your soul mate - why are you fawning all over Nick? Then you have the predictable 'sister' is she good, is she bad... it causes drama with the circle. blah blah
It's all been written before, the twists were so predictable that it took away what little suspense the storyline should of had.
Great book in the series
The whole Secret Circle series is great. It is very different than the TV show and better.
Her inflections with the characters
Laughing but no crying
Cassie having a sister and shocked that she was so horrible!
Cassie and Adam
The Major Divide!
It was really good. I would recommend it to others who loved the Secret Circle!
