Publisher's summary

Darkness never dies.

Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land, all while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. But she can't outrun her past or her destiny for long.

The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling's game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her - or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.

the sun Summoner blames everybody but herself

this book is very good but the sun Summoner blames everybody for her actions takes no responsibility and then doesn't understand why things don't work out... the last three hours of this book I've been yelling the reason why things haven't been working out is because you're a $#@!

this is a ya book

putting this book it's the correct category of YA makes it 5 stars. The story is good and leaves you on the edge and ready to start the 3rd book which is where the author wants you to be. I like that the romance is light and it's truly more about the sci-fi story line. good read.

I wish her s's weren't so hissy. The acting was good, but I struggled to get through at times. Try it at low volume. the story is so good, I keep on

Combination of naive protagonist and cartoony reader were frustrating…

I did like the story, but it was pretty annoying how the main character had no idea about how to be political, or a leader, or even strong at all. She constantly second-guessed herself, and the good advice of other people who knew better than she did. She didn’t learn as she went along she continue to be naïve and ineffective. it was pretty immature. I hate saying bad things about other peoples writing. I kind of feel like if this was read in a different tone of voice, it wouldn’t be so obvious, but the combination of the childish voice the reader used, and the naïveté of the main character were constantly frustrating to me.
