Publisher's summary

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the best-selling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison - even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive. Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life.

When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

I HAVE TO WAIT TWO MONTHS FOR BOOK 3!!!

Oh boy, I am sooo ready for book 3! Thank goodness it's supposed to be out in February of 2014. I was a little confused in the beginning. The story was about Scarlett and not Cinder, but hang in there, she's in there too and when they all get together it makes sense. If you liked Cinder, reading this is a must!

Good read and great narration.

Fun fast paced book. Easy to listen to and a good family friendly teen drama book. I like the narrator as well

Another clever take-off

I love the way the author weaves and adapts the fairy tale into a new world. It really works.

This book features the characters from the last one and then folds in elements from yet a different fairy tale. Quite clever really.

For parents with pre-teens: This one is a little more violent than the last one so make sure you know what your child can handle. The only sexual themes or moments in the book are when one character is being a smart-alecky, womanizing wisecracker. It's all talk on his part though. He considers it clever banter.

Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Even better than Cinder

Would you consider the audio edition of Scarlet to be better than the print version?

I think I would - Rebecca Solar does voices and accents extremely well, especially for Scarlett.

What did you like best about this story?

Scarlett and Cinder are both such strong women protagonists. It really is refreshing.

Any additional comments?

This whole series is fantastic. Cinder started strong and Scarlett is even better. It takes the momentum from Cinder and carries the story into a larger stage. The whole series is unique. It has the elements of revolution and romance that have made the Hunger Games and the Selection so popular, but adds an element of technology and futurism that isn't present in other teen dystopian literature. The cast is also dominated by strong women characters, who have tech skills and strong character forged through difficulty and self-reliance.

The Fairytale Continues...

Loved that new characters were introduced and the old ones were still as important. I liked the back and forth between the POVs and how they came together at the end. I really enjoyed the storyline and can't wait to see what comes next. Overall a wonderful 2nd book!

A story that doesn't end.

A couple of times in the story, you can't tell who's talking when you're listening to an audio.

LOVE

Any additional comments?

I wasn't too fond of the first book in this series and forced myself to finish it. About a month later, I found myself wondering what happened to Cinder and decided to download the second book in the series, Scarlet. I LOVED this book. I think it is much better than the first book and it left me dying to read the third book! I think the concept of the novels is very original and I look forward to reading the complete series. If you aren't sure if you should start the books, I would say the first starts slow but it is worth reading the slow beginning to get into the good stuff!

Incredible

I absolutely love this series! It has been my favorite for many many years now and this was the first time I listened to the audio book. I was nervous it might not do the books justice because the books are done so well but Rebecca Soler is an incredible reader!! The way she did all the accents so perfectly just blew me away. Absolutely amazing!
