Publisher's summary

One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable - and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

Hungry for more!

Where does Insurgent rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Insurgent was an excellent story and very well performed. I would put it in my top 5 in the teen books shelf.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Beatrice was my favorite this book. She took risks and was the hero as usual, but there was a much more "human" quality about her this book.

What about Emma Galvin’s performance did you like?

She did a very good job portraying the attitudes of the characters. Especially when sharing Beatrices thoughts, it really felt like you were listening inside someones mind.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Beatrice was administered the Fear syrum. I was surprised that she was so effected and it made me think for minute what a Fear syrum would induce in me.

Any additional comments?

Very good listen! I am excited for book three to arrive.

Fun but

Any additional comments?

This is a series that questions what is fundamental about human nature: good or evil. It is a classic literary and philosophical question and never fails to entertain when done well. Veronica Roth has created a compelling world in which to ask this question. But there are two issues that consistently bother me throughout these stories. (1) Veronica Roth tries too hard to make a point about religion as an opiate. Indeed, the correlations she tries to make between her dystopia and religion feel forced at times. (2) The first two books in this series are written from only one point of view, a teenage girl. If you are like me, you may find it slightly tiresome to consistently be presented with only one point of view. All and all, this is an entertaining read but doesn't achieve the philosophical journey it is attempting.

Can't help liking this series

What made the experience of listening to Insurgent the most enjoyable?

Good follow up to Divergent that takes place directly after the end of that story. It was very fast paced with good, but not overly detailed descriptions of the scenes. As a runner, listening only when I run, it was able to keep my attention.

What other book might you compare Insurgent to and why?

Hunger Games

Enjoyable book!

I liked the story and the performance. However, the narrator sounded slightly young at times and didn't sound as tough/mature as I imagined Tris would despite her young age. Nevertheless, it was definitely worth a listen! I cannot wait to hear what happens next.

Not the first still excellent

What made the experience of listening to Insurgent the most enjoyable?

I really enjoyed the first book in this trilogy series. Insurgent was not quite as good as divergent but still quite enjoyable. The best feature of the story was absolutely the narrator the stunning job and was very believable as the narrator Tris

What did you like best about this story?

I couldn't say that there was anything in particular that I enjoyed the most about the story I can't say that I did find the characters to be a bit whiny and not as well-developed as in divergent
