Publisher's summary

One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable - and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

The popularity of Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games trilogy and its film adaptations has paved the way for so many great dystopian books and series in YA, imagining harrowing worlds where teens must fight for survival and define what life means to them. The enduring popularity of the series has proven that dystopian stories and the sometimes-dark futures they imagine are endlessly fascinating to our imaginations.

exciting

There are lots of unexpected plot twists and things that make you wanna listen more and more. It is so interesting that i easily listened to the whole thing without speeding it up. One of the things that shocked me the most was at the end when four showed Beatrice the hard drive. I thought he would still hate her. Another interesting point in the book was when Caleb turned against Tris and sided with the Amoty.

Just as good as Divergent

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Divergent is one of my favorite Dystopian series. The characters are well developed and come to life on the pages. The struggles seem real and include personal struggles as well at against outside forces.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Insurgent?

I really enjoy watching the relationship between Tris and Four.

Have you listened to any of Emma Galvin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Emma Galvin has a young teenage sounding voice so she fits well with the Tris character.

Very detailed

This book is very detail and the way that the narrator reads each character helps a lot with each scene. Sometimes you can get confused with her voice with inner dialogue but just a few spots.

Definitely only for the select audience

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I was a bit disappointed with the way the author kept going back to our main characters fears and traumas, even though they did not effect the story. at certain points it reminded me of a screen play for a telenovela.

This is such a great series!

What made the experience of listening to Insurgent the most enjoyable?

The story is amazing. It's an incredible book about what can happen if the world has forgotten it's humanity. The world is divided by personality traits. It's incredible, I can't wait for the next book!

What other book might you compare Insurgent to and why?

It's similar to the Hunger Games series where people are have stopped living life and accepted the life that the government has given to them until there is one person who wants more. It's a strong female role.

Which scene was your favorite?

The end of the second book kept me at the edge of my seat, I couldn't stop listening! I'm not going to kill the surprise but it's incredible!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When her mom admitted that she was not much different than herself, she wasn't an outcast.

Any additional comments?

Loved it and anxious for the rest of the story

I listened to Divergent, and immediately after finishing it I started Insurgent. It starts off right where Divergent left off, and goes full speed the entire book. Tris and Four are great characters, and I enjoyed their high stress relationship. My only complaint is that it ended, and I still have questions. I want more.

Amazing Companion to Divergent

Where does Insurgent rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top 5

What other book might you compare Insurgent to and why?

The Legend Series. Similar series because it is dystopian environment and a young girl is already in the collegiate environment after taking her test at 10 years old. Her path crosses with Day a young criminal of the Republic. The story takes off from there it’s also amazing.

Which character – as performed by Emma Galvin – was your favorite?

I loved Tobias because he felt broken, but he pushed forward in an attempt to fell whole again with Tris.

I also understand that obsessive need to understand yourself which he displays in this book.

Any additional comments?

Listen to it, read it, you would regret it.
