Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books but we are real.
Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, and become one, and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. Now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. we have lived among you without you knowing.
But they know.
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They killed them all.
I am Number Four.
I am next.
Also included is a sneak listen to the first chapter of the next book in the series. Enjoy!

I did not like the way the Narrator read this book..I was VERY disappointed and couldnt even get thru an hour of the book.. I enjoyed the movie very much and thought that this audio would be awesome, but I was wrong. Perhaps a different person narrating would help..
I really enjoyed this book! Saw the movie preview and thought it looked interesting. So I decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did, it was great! I loved the narrator! I love when they have the talent to pull off different voices for characters. I drive a lot and zone out if the story gets slow. I stayed into this book driving from 7.5 hours from Memphis to East TN. Loved it!
Very shallow characters behaving in cliché and predictable ways. If you are a teen or late pre-teen this is a good read. If you liked the twilight books and the "romance" in them, then you would probably like this book. It was not my thing though
This was such a great action packed story but is most definitely geared toward the young adult crowd. If you like books like Harry Potter, The Twilight Series, etc... you will enjoy this.
The narrator was not a good match for the story because he could not do female voices at ALL. This did annoy me at times but the story was good enough that I was able to still enjoy it. I think it was worth the credits/money. I say give it a try!
This is the worst narration I have ever heard! I couldn’t go past the first few chapters. Maybe I’ll read the book, since I think the story could be interesting.
Just throwing it out there....I have no idea if I like these books.
I am not a fan of the narrators voice outside of John and a future nemisis he does...But the other books have additional narrators- so Neil Kaplan can focus less on his horrendous job of female voices and Sam. To be fair, this could be a personal thing because I did not care for his female voice and nasally interpretation of "nerds" in a different series either. No hate on you Neil, your John is great.
It's interesting and the best part of the books. Let's be honest they aren't very well written but they are entertaining. This isn't a YA novel that after the fact you are like "WOW! I would never have known!"...you know. The entire time. That being said, again still entertaining.
They are great to put on in the background while you are cleaning or doing something else because you will never fall behind if you can't focus attention on them. I didn't listen to these on long car rides though because they can't hold my attention for extended periods of time but if you know what they are before you go into it, it can be positive. I'll keep going with them because they are great to just have to throw on.
I truly enjoyed this book. I can only listen to it while communing back and forth to work. There were many times that I simply wanted to stay in the car just to listen as long as I can. Yes, there are silly things in the book that one can just do without (like the romantic parts) but once that part was over the rest was exciting. The narrator was hard to listen to when doing the female voice. The plot was good. I can't wait for the rest of the books to follow. I just hope that the movie will be just as good as the book. It a good book for all ages. I would recommand it to everyone that enjoys SciFi stories.
It's hard to imagine that a book entitled "I am Number Four" could be any good but let me tell you it is amazing! And is worth your money/credits and time. Telling the story of 9 teens forced from there planet in deep outer space by a race of cruel aliens looking for another planet to support their technology. Knowing that this race will soon go to earth (the place that is unknowingly the residents to the 9 humanoid teens) a spell was placed on them that made it so that they could only be killed of in order. The beginning of the book starts with "John" (one of many false names) who has just found out that number 3 has been killed and with him being number 4 he WILL be next.
This book is chalk full of humor and action packed scenes and in my book goes down as one of the best crafted alien novels. Believe me this isn't an alien book you are used to. This one leaves you on the side of our friend John and his species that has all but been dystroyed. You would be silly to pass this book by! Especially since soon the theatres will be showing a cinimatic (sp?) version of this movie, and from the trailers, it looks like this story will be quite a popular one.
