Publisher's summary

Rich in suspense and brimming with adventure, the New York Times best-selling Underland Chronicles unfold the fate of the Underland and the great warrior, Gregor. Suzanne Collins is also the author of the best-selling Hunger Games trilogy.

Everyone has been trying to keep Gregor from seeing the final prophecy, The Prophecy of Time. It says something awful: It calls for the warrior’s death. The warrior being Gregor, of course. Now, an army of rats is quickly approaching and Gregor’s mom and little sister, Boots, are still in Regalia. The entire existence of the Underland is in Gregor’s hands and time is running out. There is a code that must be cracked, a new princess to contend with Gregor’s burgeoning dark side, and a war designed to end all wars.

In this suspenseful final installment in the acclaimed Underland Chronicles, Suzanne Collins unfolds the fate of the Underland and the great warrior, Gregor the Overlander, in a manner that can only be described as masterful.

Not for a 9 year old

I bought this series to listen to with my 9 year old girl, but although I like it very much and may recommend it for her in 2 or 3 years, I thought it was too violent for her.

After A Reread

Read in middle school and reread as an adult, just as good as I recall.

a good final book

Ending a series is always hard and some authors do better than other. I have mixed feelings about this book. I think the story line is good and for the most part ends the series well. I would have liked more about what would happen later like a year from now or 5 years. As there seemed some things not answered or even implied at to what might happen.

Amazing story, ambiguous ending

i loved this series. very engaging storyline with definite adult themes intertwined in a way that makes it manageable for kids. death, war, love, loss. but im darn sure not happy about the ending. it just feels unfinished.
