Publisher's summary

In this third audiobook in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they're plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and prevent her army from invading Earth. Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl trapped on a satellite since childhood who's only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she's being forced to work for Queen Levana, and she's just received orders to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice. When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is splintered. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a higher price than she'd ever expected. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai, especially the cyborg mechanic. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.

Critic reviews

"Meyer continues to show off her storytelling prowess, keeping readers engaged in a wide cast of characters while unfolding a layered plot.... The momentum Meyer built in the first two books continues to accelerate.... The next installment cannot come fast enough." ( Publishers Weekly)
"Once again, Meyer offers up a science fiction fantasy page-turner that salutes women’s intelligence and empowerment.... Old and new romances, unfinished story lines, and the prognostication of wartime horrors all pave the way for Meyer’s much anticipated next installment, Winter, expected in 2015." ( Booklist)

Narrator

I really enjoyed this book, but the performance given by the narrator made it even better. Her different voices for the characters are believable and help me to never get lost with what's happening and who's talking. Her voice for Scarlet is my favorite. I'm glad such a wonderful book has such a wonderful narrator.

4 Stars

As of book 3 my complaint with this series thus far is that the author takes way too long to get to the point. There's one thing to build character, suspense and plot. However, there's a thin line between building the anticipation for readers in a good way and prolonging the anticipation for readers in a bad way. In the first book I took it with stride but as I continue to read through the series it became unbearable. I couldn't even finish the second book it was just too much. So, I skipped to the third book hoping that by that time all the extra information would have been cleared. Nope it continue to drag on. Seriously, it takes 61 chapters for Cinder to reveal her identify to Kai. By chapter 52, I was screaming hurry the hell up already! The reasons I'm going to read book four the final book are; Kai, Thorne, Cress, Winter and Iko. Those are my favorite characters I like Cinder but she's not a fave.

Leaves you longing for the next one!

This series is outstanding, and the narrator has such wonderful voice inflections so you can really guess whether the character is friend or enemy. They make you love the good guys and despise the bad ones. I definitely recommend the whole series. You'll be rooting for Cinder and her friends before you know it!

Good!

It was a good book, however it felt like it stalled a great deal at times. Prolonging at moments that were unnecessary, and offering way to much description than desired. Overall it was a good 3rd installment of the series.

Cress

Great story. Great series. Well thought out, wriiten characters and story all woven to engage and cause suspense and investment. The narrator is outstanding and doesn't take away from the story because of bad accents. Thoroughly engaging.

Amazing Book & Performance!

OMG I cant wait to start the 4th book. its sooo good. The story continues and draws you in even further. My favorite is wolf and Scarlett. The story line is great and hand me cheering and clapping out loud as well as nervous and hopeful. The narration is phenomenal and I'm truly amazed at how the narrator makes each individual distinctive and come to life. I already anticipate being bummed when it's over....
