Amazing

Wow! What a story. Loosely based on Cinderella, Cinder is a cyborg in a post WW4 world. She definitely meets her prince, but there’s more to this story than a missing slipper and an evil step mother.

I was blown away by this story! I never except much from fairytale reimaginings, but my bar was set high with all the hype surrounding this series. And I was not disappointed in any way!

Cinder is fierce and inventive and smart. She’s oppressed not only by her adoptive family, but by the general population as well, being cyborg.

It was extremely well written and performed stunningly. I was Rebecca Soler to narrate everything I read from now on. She’s phenomenal. The plot was so compelling and quick. I can’t think of one thing I didn’t like.

I can’t wait to listen to Scarlet. This story is going somewhere epic!

Lovely retelling

I discovered this book several years back before the other books were published. I loved it then and I still love it now. Marissa's retelling of Cinderella in this first book is adventurous and futuristic.
Spoilers: She also plays Cinder as the tough mechanic that can take care of herself, and likes the prince but isn't looking for him to save her or rescue her, she actually tries to rescue him in a way. By the end of the first book she hasn't gotten the prince, she's imprisoned and is planning her escape.

The series all together is fascinating and how she sets up the following books with little tidbits of information in the first book is great. They are little gems here and there that you won't connect unless you read the books over again.

The series is a fun read, and the narrator did a great job.

interesting but predictable

Great story concept and good characters, just way too easy to predict. I still enjoyed it, but not exactly surprising outcome.

Great Book

A modern rendition of Cinderella. My oldest child read this in junior high, reading the synopsis I thought it sounded odd. I got it on audiobook and have read the whole series twice now. Once on my own, and again recently when my youngest started junior high.

It’s full of adventure and doesn’t have many slow parts. It’s great watching Cinder’s character development.

Highly recommend this book.

Loved this fairytale version

At first reading the summary I was a bit hesitant at buying this book. But after reading several of the reviews, I took a chance. Then another one on the second book and again on the third. Now I can't wait for the next installment!

For those who love the Cinderella story, this one has a total spin on the story and so far, I like this version compared to the other versions of Cinderella. The cruelty of the stepmother and stepsister is consistent with the exception of the younger stepsister who actually has a fondness for Cinder. Instead of mice as companions, she has a very animated android that in some parts made me wish I had one and other made me want to hit her power off button.

Would I listen to this again? Yes. I don't think I can read the book because it wouldn't be the same as hearing it.

A Worthy Successor

I know that many fo Cinderella stories have been written over the years, but for me this is my favourite.

For the critical reader then, be warned that I am not being very partial as I write and that my weakness for romance has most certainly biased me towards this story.

what I liked :
The character of Cinder had much one could relate to, her role being that of the justified underdog and the author did a very good job of exploiting this point. It is where I bonded most with Cinder. That sense of self righteousness is addictive, though admittedly not advisable in every case.

The author's use of the future setting comfortable and well rounded. Many writers, in an attempt to draw in the sci-fi crowd ring their world's dry. This was not the case here.

What I didn't like:
While the world was well crafted it did seem just slightly simplistic, mostly early on in the book.

I don't have a lot bad to say about this book. To be honest I couldn't put it down.
My advice, at least try it. Its not this reader's opinion you'll regret it.
