Publisher's summary

Step into the world of Shadow Falls, a camp that helps teens tap into their special…talents. Once you visit, you'll never forget it - and you'll never, ever be the same.

From the moment Kylie Galen arrived at Shadow Falls Camp, she's had one burning question: What am I? Surrounded by vampires, werewolves, shape-shifters, fairies, and witches, Kylie longs to figure out her own supernatural identity… and what her burgeoning powers mean. And now she'll need them more than ever, because she's being haunted by a new spirit who insists that someone Kylie knows - and loves - will die before the end of the summer. If only she only knew who she was supposed to save. And how….

But giving Kylie the most trouble is her aching heart. Gorgeous werewolf Lucas left camp with another girl, but he's still visiting Kylie in her dreams. And Derek, a sexy half Fae who's always been there for her when she needed him, is pushing to get more serious - and growing impatient, especially when Lucas returns. Kylie knows she needs to decide between the boys, and it's tearing her up inside.

Yet romance will have to wait, because something from the dark side of the supernatural world is hiding in Shadow Falls. It's about to threaten everything she holds dear…and bring her closer to her destiny.

Awake at Dawn is the second installment in C.C. Hunter's young adult fantasy series.

lackluster

the story could have been great. it has the boys, the mysterious main character and the odd spook factor, but it just has no actual build up. even when something happens there is no actual suspense. the climax of the story just kid of happens just like everything else in the book. there is no wow factor which is crazy bc all the things that happen to her are pretty fantastic. yes they are told in a way that make it just another part of the story. . the things that should be huge parts arent given enough detail or excitement. she literally gets kidnapped, breaks through a wall, and rescued pretty much in the same breath. no suspense. same with the next 2 books. the author and the narrator just missed the mark. which sux bc the mark could have been awesome

heroine cries constantly.

I love this kind of book, the basic premise which is of course formulaic, but Kylie just cries too much. moments of weakness are fine but emotional fortitude is far more attractive then the constant woe is me.

Better than the first

I’m so glad I found this series on audible. I have to fight myself to stop listening and go to sleep because I cannot get enough of this story line. I absolutely love these books.

Horrible. 🤬😡

The reader who reads the book to you sounds like she’s swallowing marbles. With a fake southern accent. Every character has the same southern accent. When she does the male voices they sound no different. You can even hear the reader pause and swallow and breath heavy.

It left me confused on who was who. Very poor story telling.. I only made it to chapter 5 when I had enough of it. I want my money back.

Did I fail to mention the stupid accent?? WHY??! 😡😡 ANNOYING!!!!.

Great Character development

such a great take on growing pains, diversity and acceptance, first love and parental trust. I do love this series as an older adult there is some nostalgia to my feelings similar to some of the story lines that are told so well. Bravo C.C., for incorporating good manners and ethics prior to the current millennial selfishness and disrespect.

Difficult to get through

Wow this was a painful book to listen to. It felt like it dragged on. The first book there was problematic language (“gay” and “retarded”) and the only reason I got this book was to finish the plot with Justin and her powers. Justin is hardly mentioned the entire book and the love triangle with Derek felt pointless. Actually the entire book felt pointless. I do not recommend and am very unlikely to read anything else by this author.

fantastic series

I love the series. love the story line and characters. the narrator isn't too bad either. only thing that would make this better is if it were narrated by Caitlin Davies
