#1 BESTSELLING GLOBAL PHENOMENON

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas comes a seductive, breathtaking book that blends romance, adventure, and faerie lore into an unforgettable audiobook.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not truly a beast, but one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world.

At least, he’s not a beast all the time.

As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Entertaining!

Great adult fairy story. Wonderful twists and new ways to present an often done, overly familiar trope. I was surprised and delighted many times. Not your typical YA story. I'd actually enjoy a sequel to this story. Which is not something I say often. :)

Amazing

Would you consider the audio edition of A Court of Thorns and Roses to be better than the print version?

Absolutely Jennifer Ikeda was fabulous. She brought the story to life. She was absolutely perfect for the role. All of her female, male and villain voices and more...were just spot on perfect! She also performed another favorite series of mine Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely!

Any additional comments?

This is Beauty and Beast like it has never been told before... just WOW! Sarah J. Maas did it again! And thanks to the editors it's the perfect length too! It's soooo amazing! There's a great story, suspense, romance, steamy hott love scenes, loyalty, a curse, a villain or two and our brave, intelligent, willful, beautiful heroine Feyre. I can't forget to mention the handsome and brave Tamlin and Rhysand, but there is no love triangle and no cliffhanger ending either! I can't wait for the next book to come out...and then another year for book 3 ...why does a year have to be so long? Write faster Sarah.

Not original but still compelling

Young adult/adult book not a youth book. A dark sexy beauty and the beast retelling. Jump into an enchanted forest with immortal and somewhat immoral characters. The book does leave a lot of questions at the end so be prepared to read the whole series.

Intriguing start to the series, but not YA fantasy

Overall 4 stars
Performance 4.5 stars
Story 4 stars

I originally started this book in 2016 (not knowing that it wasn't a standalone) while I waited for the next Throne of Glass novel to publish. I'm finally getting around to finishing the series, but I read it so long ago that it's almost like reading it for the first time. There's not much I can add that hasn't been said about ACOTAR before, but it's been wonderful to relive the magic and catch the different clues that I missed the first time around. I feel like I understand Feyre, her motivations, and her struggles a lot better now and the romantic misdirection still kind of blows my mind. I still don't understand why this series is marketed as YA fantasy though. Jennifer Ikeda is a wonderful narrator and I really enjoyed her performance. The variety of voices she uses really brings all the different characters to life. Now on to my ACOMAF reread ;)

One of my favorite YA fantasies

Sarah J Maas paints yet another magical world that is hard not to fall in love with. Though the main character is difficult at times, the story is compelling. Narration was perfect with no difficulties in identifying different characters. Wonderful performance.

Lovely

Above all else this is a lovely fantasy. I found it ever so slightly problematic in some instances, but otherwise it was nice to lose myself in when at work. Over all the pacing was a little wonky with the first two thirds being relatively slow and then the last third just jam packed with action. Some of her adjectives got a little tired when describing the men (I get it they're hot) but those are small enough issues to be over looked. I'm looking forward to the second one!

Loved it!

While at times I felt like I was listening to a pre recorded computer voice, at least the conversation parts were great. The overall story kept me riveted. My emotions were a rollercoaster, and I didn't want to put it down.
