A new ship. A young crew. A dream job gone horribly wrong.

When circumstances drive Zoya and Natalya to accept an offer from the most powerful organization in the Western Annex, it looks like their ship - literally - comes in. The job fails to live up to its promise and the pair soon find themselves fighting for their lives against a booby trapped ship and its unseen master.

Will they unmask their enemies and survive their suicide run?

start at the beginning

These are wonderful stories! Be sure to start with the first book, Quarter Share and proceed from there. I think this is something like the twelfth? I am dying for the next one to be available in March. Then I will have to wait a long time to see if he writes more. I am dearly hoping the next three after that will be about Natalie & Zoya on the new ship with Ishmael & Pip. I would like to see Zoya and Pip get married, but something tells me there will be stormy intermittent love with Natalie and Ish. And of course, the important part: leadership and adventure in the "deep dark" because, as Joss Whedon said,

"Take me out to the black,
Tell them I ain't comin back.
Burn the land and boil the sea,
You can't take the sky from me."

Makes me wish I'd had more ship time. I could have stayed for another term, and rode Nitze back from the NAG, through Suez, but I had class ashore and wanted to spend a week in London, on my way home. I wish Pickle and I could do a quarter together, on a carrier, but she could not do that until she retires from her shore job. Safe journey, readers! ;-)

Nathan Never Disappoints

Nathan is as awesome as ever. He has a great story that sucks you in, holds you against your will and leaves you very satisfied for being kept that way. You always hope for the next book/installment/or new read or listen in this case. Emily did a fantastic job. Her annunciation was spot on, voices were awesome, and she gave the ear a wonderful treat. I look forward to hear more books read by her.

Another..Home Run..by Mr. Lowell

You see what I did there, Right? Next book please. I do enjoy this world the Mr. Lowell has created, deep characters, easy listening, and everything doesn't go to hell all of the time...like.. every other paragraph is a universe rending calamity. and..there's coffee....

I Love This Universe!

Nathan Lowell has once again taken me out to the stars. His vision of the future reminds me that while things change, people don't.

Be prepared to miss a night's sleep!

Nats and Zee are laying low, making a modest living as couriers out in Toe Hold Space, but the financial powers-that-be, seek them out, and make them an offer they can't refuse...
Once again, Nathan Lowell has managed to craft a "space opera" that doesn't involve blowing up star cruisers, alien hoards, or desperate last stands... but I Still found myself reading ALL through Saturday night, until about 8:30 am Sunday morning. Man... I really needed some coffee after that!
Grab yourself a hot mug O' Joe, and settle in for a most enjoyable read. Just be prepared to miss a night's sleep!

One of my favorite lines...
“Could I have a cup of coffee?” Natalya asked. Louisa nodded. “Of course. Now? With dinner? Or after?” “Yes,” said Natalya. “That would be lovely.”

addendum:
I've just finished the audio copy voiced by the lovely Emily Woo Zeller released on Dec 24. Soooooooo it's just like a present from Nathan Lowell to me, even though I purchased it myself! LOL

Suicide Run was fantastic

This might just be my favorite book in this universe so far - I haven't listened to Home Run yet, and I have liked them all so far. If you liked these series then make sure you make it to this book :-)

Her name is "Natalia", not "Natoya"

Ms. Zeller was able to get her name correct all through book 1 but she switches between "Natalia" and "Natoya" all through the book. Other than that irritation, the book is awesome.
