Publisher's summary

Amberlyn didn’t realize her boyfriend was spending more time with her best friend than with her. Betrayed and publicly humiliated, she needed a box of tissues and a shoulder to cry on.

Aiden was happy to supply them. Having a crush on Amberlyn for years, he was secretly glad her boyfriend had dumped her. He may even have participated in the events that caused the breakup. But he couldn’t focus on that when he needed to train for the upcoming baseball season.

With Amberlyn still crying over her ex-boyfriend, scouts vying for Aiden’s attention, and betrayals coming out of left field, they have so many strikes against them, they may never hit a home run.

Enjoyed Story & Narration

Amberlyn the breakup and betrayal are hard for anyone especially when the two had been close to her. How it is handled was well done by her. Life was busy for Aiden, and wanted to be there for her, his future and choices were now. Love and forgiveness was well brought out, as well as a lasting love. The narration was great and drew one into the story. Well done and enjoyed.

Great story that ties in the others in the series

After Amberlyn's boyfriend dumps her in a very public way for her best friend, she's left trying to figure out her heart. Was she ever really in love?

Aiden's been watching from the sidelines for years, crushing on Amberlyn, but afraid he'd never get a chance with her.

Now their time has come. But can he convince her that he's right for her? You'll have to read to find out.

I did enjoy how the storylines from the first three books all were tied together in this one. But I also found it a bit unbelievable to have so many young people (seniors in high school) engaged at the end of the story.

There were also technical issues with the sound in a few places, so I would give the performance a 3.5, but rounded up to 4.

Unrealistic

Where are the parents in this story? it's hard to cheer for Aiden's and Amberynn's rushed relationship.

Overlapping

I really enjoyed how this book starts off in the previous book and overlaps a bunch and we get more perspectives. A lot of on and off and "misunderstandings," but I really enjoyed it.

Fun, very enjoyable listen

This was a fun story! While it is about high schoolers, I was still able to relate to the characters. I thought the author did a good job of developing the characters and keeping the story real.

The narration was well done.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author and I'm voluntarily leaving this review.

Cute YA Sports book

I love that this book takes place during the same time frame as Pass Me the Ball since the storylines and characters overlap. Then timing was great. I fell in love with Aiden and wanted Amberlyn to get her HEA.

Throughout the book I really didn’t care for Amberlyn’s character she isn’t a very decisive heroine but Aiden definitely saved this book for me.

The narration was done well. Very easy to follow.

Young love

This is the fifth book in this series. All related to athletes and young love. Each book is a fairly lighthearted sweet romance.
In this book a few more serious issues were brought up such as teenage pregnancy. The main couple discussed waiting for intimacy and respecting each other. The other couple’s pregnancy was used somewhat as an example of what can happen if teenage hormones aren’t kept in check.

Cute YA coming of age story

This is a sweet YA story. High school can be a tough time. The kids in this story deal with a lot of real issues and yet keep there heads straight. I think this book would be a great read for those in similar situations and anyone that likes a YA story.

Enjoyable YA romance

Julie Spencer writes fun, entertaining YA romances with such mature characters that sometimes I forget I’m reading YA. Her choice in narrators is great and Abigail Carson brings her stories to life. Great story for teens and adults.
