Publisher's summary

Who was the real killer? Romain Fornier lost his reason for living when his daughter was kidnapped and murdered. He used a cop's gun to mete out his own justice and spent the next few years in prison. Once he was freed, he returned to his Cajun roots in small-town Louisiana. But now he learns that he might have killed the wrong man. Jasmine Stratford, a psychological profiler, is convinced his daughter's killer is still alive - and that she and Romain have something in common. She believes the same man kidnapped her sister, Kimberly, 16 years ago. What happens next? Jasmine is determined to track him down when she receives an anonymous package, postmarked New Orleans - the bracelet she gave Kimberly for her eighth birthday. She approaches Romain because she knows he can help her... if he chooses. But searching for the man who irrevocably changed both their lives means they have to rise to a killer's challenge: stop me.

Save Me

This is another one of my favorite books.
Jasmine and Romain are wonderfully developed as H/h. Their story is the dark-side of child abductions, murders and abused. Their relation helps each other to heal from regret and to forgive their families. Ms. Novak focus point is on Romain's losses and regrets over his child and family connections. Jasmine's visit to New Orleans enables Romain to look at the outcome of his child's murder from a different prospective. Jasmine wants to solve her sister's 16-years disappearance and established a link between the two cases. This story is filled with so many suspects that you doubt everyone's invovlement with the cases.

Annoying Main Character

Interesting story but annoying main character. Good narrator! Worth the listen if you have Audible Escape.

Great characters but too scary for me

I really like this author and series but this particular book was a little too creepy for me. Maybe I'm a lightweight. I listen to audiobooks to fall asleep at night. Sometimes the book I am listening to gets mixed into my dreams so needless to say being tied up in someone's basement by a serial killer is not great dream material. I will continue to the next book in the series and I hope the author keeps writing mystery/thrillers. This author's thriller books are easy to listen to meaning I can follow along effortlessly and understand everything that is happening. That is my gauge for which audiobooks I am going to buy.

Great Read

Stop Me (The Last Stand #2) was a great read by Brenda Novak. Ramain's daughter was kidnapped and murdered, which sent him to life a solitary life after being released. He spent a few years in prison when he used a cops gun to get justice for his daughter. Jasmine is a psychological profiler who believe's Romain may have killed the wrong man. She ends up in a small-town in Louisiana looking for the killer. She is looking for the man who kidnapped her sister, who she believes is still alive. I absolutely loved reading this book and can't wait to read more by Brenda Novak.

A must read!

Jasmine's visit to New Orleans to solve her sister's 16-years disappearance and gets Romain to look at the outcome of his child's murder from a different perspective. Jasmine establishes a link between the two cases. Their relation helps each other to heal from regret and find out what happened to her sister and who really killed his daughter.
